The best deal in Los Angeles! Your own private room, with locking door, in a hostel type setting. Two blocks from the main subway station. Ask us how to get a free ride from LAX to our place. We rent cars cheap too!

The space

Used as a dormitory for international students studying at Los Angeles City College and USC. Like a hostel, except all the rooms are private, not shared. In the room you have the beds, desks, chairs, and a closet or armoire. Free PARKING and WIRELESS internet!

This is simple, but clean and safe accommodation at a low price. The manager lives on site. We have had over 600 guests from Airbnb and the listings are all Airbnb verified!

Guest access

There are two full baths, and a fully equipped kitchen which are shared.

Other things to note

Some frequently asked questions, and the answers:
Q – Are sheets and such provided?
A – Yes, bedding is provided. If you need more (say an extra blanket or comforter) just ask. We suggest you bring your own towels, though we have some available.

Q – Is it safe?
A – Yes. Your room has a deadbolt lock. The property is gated. The neighborhood is safe and well patrolled by the police. There are probably more people actually walking around this neighborhood than anywhere else in LA. One of the few places other than downtown where you will actually encounter a crowded sidewalk.

Q – Is it central?
A – Yes, kind of. Remember what Gertrude Stein said about Los Angeles “There’s no there there.” Well, it is still fairly true. LA is very spread out and not a centralized city: if you are close to one area, you are by definition far from another. The location is between Hollywood and Downtown and it is easy to get to either because of the nearby subway.

If you have stayed in a hostel before, you probably already know what to expect. You have one of four rooms. We will provide you with clean bedding and toilet paper on the first day, but after that you do your own laundry (washer and dry on site). Your toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc...) are provided by you. Sure, if you need something or lost something, we will help you out, just ask. But in general you bring your own stuff. (There are a number of markets a short walk from the room.)

The common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) are cleaned weekly, but you are expected to clean up after yourself, and to do so immediately after using the area. If any common area is messy, contact me immediately and we will take care of it, no problem. (I live next door.) We do not always check the common areas everyday, so please, if something is not right, let me know. I want to know. I will take care of it :)

You have your own private room; however, the bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There are four private rooms per unit. Thus it is necessary to respect others wishes, which means:
1) No smoking inside. Please smoke outside. There is a back patio and a front porch.
2) No parties.
3) No loud music or such.
If you have a problem with someone leaving the common areas dirty, smoking, loud noise, etc.... let us know immediately, and we will take care of it right away.

We are happy to help and advise, but basically we will leave you alone unless you ask. It is a great room for the price, and you cannot do better for access to public transport.

The location is great with easy access to the metro system, upon arrival Kelly gave great advice on how to get about and was overall a great host.

Ryan's place was excellent for my stay in LA for 4 weeks. 2 minutes to the metro station and situated in a fairly quiet neighbourhood. Has all the amenities you need, kitchen/two bathrooms/wifi/iron etc. It's not glamorous, but if you are here to travel LA on a small budget, you can't get much better for the price. I'll definitely be back again.

The host accepted us on very short notice, which was wonderful as we were LA bound with no accommodation. Communication was great also, very prompt. The house was fine, very secure with locked gates front and back, locking doors front and back as well as locks (and deadbolts) on individual rooms. The host was really nice to deal with as were other guests staying there at the time. The place was clean and tidy although our room had a slightly peculiar smell to it which was kind of a disinfectant smell with a mustiness underneath! It was bearable for the few days we stayed anyway! The neighbourhood seemed fine despite the high security of the house. The neighbourhood is mostly Spanish or Korean speaking so it was a little difficult to go supermarket shopping in the area but it was fun to try new things. There looked to be some great Korean restaurants around which I would have liked to try if I'd had more time. Also it was easy to get into downtown LA by bus and they ran pretty late too. Overall the place runs pretty much like a hostel, the two bathrooms are plenty for everyone although beware you will only be given one toilet roll per room so you may need to hang onto your own rather than leave it in the bathroom! The house is not as clean as a hostel would be, but then there are no housekeeping staff to keep it immaculate so fair enough. I would probably stay here again should I return to LA. Thanks for having me!

It was great stay in Holywood for great price. Room was clean, Claire and Ryan were nice to me. Next time I will arrive at Holywood I will probably stay again there. Possibility of laundry for $1.25 is also nice to have.

Place is exactly as described, dorm style. Kitchen was not clean neither were the dishes/cups. Bring your own and you will be fine. This is just a place to sleep nothing more nothing less. Was perfect for me and my cousin to just explore LA for a week. Perfect location between LA and Hollywood. Everything we needed to do or see was a cheap uber away. Would stay here again, if needed, just make sure you know what your renting.

Kelly is nice but keep in mind that this is a shared space, also it is not the most well maintained apartment.

The location is accurate and the room does have two beds and a desk. However, the walls have been painted light blue but we're still dirty, the beds were not the ones pictured. My friend slept on a futon while I slept on the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever experienced. While this room would suffice to anyone looking for a room in the area I discourage anyone from staying here when the temperature is over 75 outside (No AC) The bathroom was also a disappointment, and I wasn't expecting much. To say something positive about my experience, there is off-street parking and it was easy enough two pick up and drop off the key when checking in and out.
