I was charmed by the location (it feels like the end of the world) and the appartement itself which is also charming and authentic. Although other reviews have mentioned it, I have to stress the house is not directly accessible by car which means you have to climb the moutain with all you stuff. It makes one very efficient and realise that you need less than one thinks. If your not an experienced driver, perhaps you should reconsider a visit to Campello, since the road from Forno to Campello is very narrow and you cannot easily pass each other. On the other hand I noticed that the locals are very helpfull and you should use your beeper. I recommend the pizzeria Il Rododendro: they serve the best pizza's I have ever eaten.

This is a great place to stay to really unplug. Paolo was a great host and we had everything we needed. There were a few cobwebs and bugs but the house was very comfortable and the location can't be beat to have some relaxing time away. I would definitely consider staying here again.

This is the second time we have booked with Paolo and it gets better every time. We booked both his property this time as we were two families. This time as we were driving up he showed us a few different local shops where they make the Pinocchio for all of Italy. so I asked for us to leave a little early and stop on the way back down. He said of course and arranged for two different places to be open. What a great expense to meet the master Geppetto. He also told us where to buy farm fresh eggs, milk, cheese and jam direct from the farmers at their homes. Each morning we met Giuseppe at his home for a liter of just milked milk. (yummmm). The hiking was as pretty as one would expect and the ristorante in town served a killer family style dinner each night. We can't wait to come back soon.

If you are looking for an out of the way location in a small, beautiful and unspoiled village in a magnificent mountain setting where you can roam to your heart's content, this is the place to go... bearing in mind that there is nothing else to do if you plan a holiday with easily bored teenagers. To my great surprise, and the delight of my own teenager, there was both network and wifi connections. For adventurous children under 10 it was however very exciting to try to discover all the nooks and corners in the village without any supervision as well as what is round the next bend on the mountain paths. Paolo is the perfect host and his house is just as advertised: quaint and comfortable. As a car cannot be brought to the doorstep and the cobbled way up to the house is rather steep, it is advisable to use easily carried bags rather than suitcases. There is no grocery in Campello Monti, but the one trattoria's meals are so excellent and good value that we hardly cooked at home.

When we arrived to Campello Monti, we immediately fell in love. Being a 2 hour car drive from Milan, it was the perfect escape from the city. Paolo and his son were there to greet us and show us around the small mountain-side town. They are incredibly nice and warm people. The home was so sweet and romantic and the views and hiking trails are just incredible. Thank you Paolo and Riccardo for everything! I will certainly be returning in the near future.
