Charming cottage on the edge of Dartmoor offers the perfect get-away. With its own private garden surrounded by woodland, it is a great place to walk, relax, read and explore the beauty of the Devonshire countryside. This newly renovated one bedroom cottage is packed with character, the cosy cob walled lounge has a wood-burning fire to keep you snug on cold nights, the master bedroom features a King size bed under ancient crook beams and alarge brand new bathroom ensuite for ultimate relaxing.

The space
This pretty traditional one-bedroom cottage is built out of cob with a small sloping private garden at the rear and a sun-drenched patio perfect for taking in the surrounding woodland. It is ideal for a couple who plan to explore the Devon countryside as well as a perfect romantic bolt hole. The cottage is on the grounds of the main house, on the edge of the picturesque village of Dunsford, a 2 min drive away which has all the usual amenities of a small village, shop, post office and pub.

The space on offer is as follows:-
Ground Floor-
Fully equipped kitchen with tiled floor, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster etc. Off the kitchen is a small utility room with a fridge /freezer and plenty of hooks for coats and space to stash muddy boots. There is also a small downstairs toilet.

Beautiful lounge-come dining room with pretty views out to woodland, includes a sofa, anglepoise style lamp and a stunning granite inglenook fireplace with bread oven which is home to the wood-burning stove which will be laid ready to light. TV with free view channels and farmhouse kitchen table which seats two are also found in the lounge as are the stairs to first floor.

First floor-
Bedroom with King size bed and window that overlooks the rear garden offering rural countryside views.

A large brand new bathroom leads from the bedroom with a freestanding bath, large walk-in shower and heated towel rail.

Private garden:
Located at the end of a little path behind the cottage is a sloping garden with a level patio area with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. The garden is completely private and not overlooked by the main house. It comes with a BBQ should you want to make the most of the evening sunshine.

Dunsford, England, United Kingdom

Set in the Teign Valley on the edge of the picturesque village of Dunsford you are in a perfect location to base yourself for a number of outdoor activities around Devon. There are beautiful river walks within a 2 minute drive and the Moors within 10 minutes of the front door. The surrounding area offers, opportunity for fishing, cycling, horse riding, golf and wild swimming. Haldon Forest, 20 minutes away, is a great woodland park for off road cycling, and cycle and Segway hire is also available.
Dartmoor, a 15 minute drive, is a must see, with huge granite tors dotting the landscape which offer rock climbing and walks aplenty, cascading streams, historic stone circles and clapper bridges make it a fascinating exploration. The villages of the high moor like Widecombe ( 20 minutes drive) offer great opportunities for Devonshire cream teas in beautiful surroundings and Dartmoor ponies are a common sight.

If your looking for coastal fun then Dawlish Warren, a 25-minute drive, has sand dunes, swimming, moorings and the usual seaside treats, whilst Exmouth, 40 minutes away, has a long sandy beach with many amenities and is popular with kitesurfers and for rock pooling /crabbing. For surfers there are the stunning beaches of Bantham and Polzeath about an hours drive south and Croyde and Woolacombe to the North. Salcombe in the South Hams is a picturesque coastal town with shops and ferry rides to beaches.

If you are after National Trust properties then we have several nearby the nearest is Castle Drogo in Drewsteignton (20 min away).

Dunsford itself a very short drive and offers all the essentials, a village shop, post office, local pub The Royal Oak and pretty Walled Garden Tea rooms.

Shopping : Approximately fifteen minutes drive or 30 minute bus journey away is the Cathedral City of Exeter which offers cinemas, shops, cafes, restaurants, theatres, super markets and night life. Other towns nearby include Moretonhampstead located at the gateway to the high moor, Chagford a picturesque moorland town and Ashburton a pretty market town offering independent shops, antiques and a Deli.

The Teign Valley offers a plethora of pubs in its villages of Christow, Bridford, Doddiscombleigh and Trusham.

A few miles from the house you will find Canonteign Falls, the highest waterfall in England with lakes and a cafe.
Nearby also are an abundance of wild swimming spots and river fed or heated outdoor pools such as in Bovey Tracey, Chagford, Chudleigh, Moretonhampstead and Topsham.

For keen cyclists the the Tour of Britain goes past the cottage and there are numerous challenging rides from the door step.
