We travelled to Thierry's house as a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 small children). The house is stunning, tastefully decorated, and perfectly safe with small children (enclosed pool area with alarm). Unfortunately what would have been a lovely stay was dampened by a highly upsetting check out process. Whilst the check in only lasted a few minutes with only a few verbal guidelines given (the person greeting us was getting married that day, as such we were sent to the supermarket on arrival even though we had 4 small children who were exhausted - only to be told to rush back) the check out took nearly an hour and a half. This involved the housekeeper taking us through each and every room and aggressively accusing us of having not cleaned to a high enough standard (damp bathroom) or damaging the furniture (a few small drops of wax on the garden table). We had left a stack of clean unused baby nappies in a room and a half dozen of empty bottles, next to the bins, for disposal. Apparently this was totally unacceptable and we were accused of having left the place "strewn with nappies and empty beer bottles". As we were finally given permission to leave, the housekeeper ordered us to take our bin bag with us (the trash has to be taken by car to a disposal unit at the end of the road) adding that this was not his responsibility (apparently taking the day'so trash out is not included in the cleaning fee) as he was not our "boy" or our "dog". There were also very minimal supplies when we arrived (no toilet paper, bin bags etc). All in all, a lovely house and as far as communication went with him, a lovely owner, but the downright abusive treatment we received by the housekeeper means we will not be back.
