The Oystercatcher is perfect for a quiet and relaxed "get away from it all " break, set in 6 acres and a few minutes walk to an award winning pub, close to Dartington, Totnes, Dartmoor and the sea. Loads to do nearby or just stay local and relax in the woodfired hot tub under the stars. The Skylark is nearby, if you are travelling with friends or family as is Jenny Wren, our beautiful shepherds hut. Please contact Emma if you'd like to bring a dog before booking.

The space
A lovely, light open plan living area with dining table, well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa & wood burning stove, with lovely views over the surrounding fields through the French windows. Small covered terrace outside with table and chairs to sit and enjoy your food, a coffee or something a little stronger....

The cottage has its own private and secluded woodfired hot tub. Unlike electric hot tubs, this uses fresh water and no chemicals-so is a real treat under the stars or on a lazy afternoon. We will light it and bring it up to temperature for you. It requires 24 hours notice and is available most of the time provided we are here! The hot tub is £25 for first use & £15 for a second use, which covers the cost of wood and water & is payable in cash on arrival. It can only be used for two consecutive days before it needs to be drained and cleaned. The hot tub is 1.8m diameter & has a fibreglass liner, steps up and in integral woodburner-a really unique experience. If you book ahead of your visit, you can change your mind at zero cost as long as we have 12 hours notice. Please check the weather immediately prior to your stay and let us know if you’d like to go ahead or not!

The bathroom has a bath with separate shower & the comfy double bed has organic sheets, down pillows & a Devon wool duvet. We provide eco friendly toiletries.

We have local maps & guidebooks for you to borrow...and Devon Life magazines are there for you to peruse for plenty of ideas about where to go and what to do. We’re on hand to help with hints & tips too!

A warm welcome with locally produced and organic food and drink awaits you. There are radiators in every room and in addition, we provide wood for the woodburner, local and organic milk, bread, real and instant coffee, Pukka herbal teas and Clipper tea and hot chocolate. We also supply olive oil, herbs and salt and pepper and you'll find a lovely bottle of Luscombe organic drink for you, as well as some homemade biscotti. As we run an ward winning food business; “Two Birds Kitchen”, we can also send you details of cream teas on arrival, breakfast packs and more. GF and DF can be provided- please ask.

If you would like to bring your dog, we accept one small/medium, well behaved (preferably crate trained) dog, but we ask that the dog does not go into the bedroom and does not get on the sofa. Dogs must not be left unattended and must be on a lead at all times outside. We charge a fee of £45 per stay for a dog. We would consider an ask for two well behaved dogs (at an additional £15 per stay)-please contact us. Due to our lovely soft furnishings, we cannot take large/shaggy dogs. Please note, any damage caused by your dog will be charged to you. We are unable to take bookings with dogs until you have checked with us.

We can provide safe bike storage if needed.

The Skylark- a detached cottage with its own hot tub is also on our land ref: 28327569, if you might be travelling with friends or family and are looking for two spaces near each other. We also have the very lovely Jenny Wren, a unique and romantic shepherds hut with a woodland hot tub- ref: 45309221

We keep free-range chickens and ducks, non free-range goats and have two dogs. You are welcome to explore our space and sit in our meadow and enjoy the views with a glass of wine.

If you would like to bring a baby, we’re happy to accept babies under 1 (and can lend you a travel cot). The property is not suitable for older children.

Our minimum stay is 3 nights and we now only accept check ins on Friday (til Monday) or Mondays (til Thursday or Friday) or of course, a combination to give you a week or more. If we have a 2 night window, we may consider a booking-please contact. Please contact Emma if you need any help with this.
