Explore Center City from our historic home. Centrally located amidst Philly's main attractions: Old City, Independence Hall and the National Historical Park, and the famous nightlife on South Street. This is an ideal location in the city!

The space

You'll have the full house with three bedrooms, two queen beds, one double bed, and two sleeper sofas. The dining room is a brand new space with real stone floors and the kitchen hardwood has been recently refinished as well. The bathroom includes marble floors, a claw foot bathtub, and is next to a walk in closet with ample space. The third floor bedrooms may be the nicest space in the house with exposed brick and refinished original exposed beams. Please keep in mind if you have mobility issues or trouble walking the stairs are steeper than normal though we do have railings and grip tape.

Our cobblestone Street has no cars. These half block streets are sprinkled throughout old city. There is nothing like stepping outside onto pedestrian-only cobblestones. You'll find ample street parking a half a block over on Bainbridge as well as three pay lots within one block. From the airport and train stations a taxi is the easiest way to arrive, but Market East station is walkable as well. You can take the bus almost anywhere, but the best way to enjoy the charm, history, and culture of our city is to walk and explore!

Within minutes walking distance:

Independence National Historical Park:
The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and much more!
The Betsy Ross House
South Street (the TLA Theater concert venue and Jim's Cheesesteaks)
Old City Shopping, Dining, and Nightlife
The Italian Market
Reading Terminal Market
Washington Square
Headhouse Square Farmer's Market
The new Spruce Street Harbor Park
Penn's Landing and the Delaware Riverfront
Broad Street Theater District
The vintage shops at Fabric Row
Antiques Row shopping
The Art Gallery district for First Friday
Several grocery stores including Whole Foods, ShopRite, and Essene (a local macrobiotic healthfood store with hot bar)

It's easy to explore all of Center City on foot. All the restaurants and shopping of the Rittenhouse square neighborhood is only a half hour walk, we do it all the time! Of course it's also very easy to catch a taxi just a block over on South Street any time of day or night!

Guest access

Guests have access to all areas of the house, including the back patio and any cooking and breakfast goods, except for the basement.

Interaction with guests

Call, text, or email me anytime. We live an hour away and have a friend in town if you need something just call!

Other things to note

The house is on a pedestrians-only street, but there is parking half a block away on Bainbridge. It is a three story house with relatively steep winding stairs running throughout (though we have installed railings and safety tread) but they may not be easy for those with issues climbing stairs.

The house is old. It makes it charming but also comes with some downsides, such as some mold odors and dust. My mother had strong allergies for the two nights she stayed there, and it felt like hell to her. Good thing to know in advance if you are sensitive to that. That being said there are plenty of beds for a family and the location is convenient. Good value overall.

A beautiful period home in Philadelphia. Such a pretty house with great furnishings that fit the house just right. Thanks so much, Richard

We love cities and historic neighborhoods and properties, so Jesse and Libby's place was perfect for us. Walking distance to the major historic sites, and we were so excited to find one of the best cheesesteak places in town literally on the corner! (Jim's, go! you won't regret it!). We really enjoyed the private outdoor patio space and the quiet cobblestone street. It was easier than we expected to unload, as the street is only used by residents and we were able to park at the end of the block for 10 minutes or so while unloading with no problems. We would recommend Jesse and Libby's place to anyone exploring the Old City of Philly! thanks again, Debra and Grey Persons

Very beautiful in a convenient location. There is however, a significant rodent issue that prevented us from fully enjoying the house. The host stated that they would resolve the problem.

We had a lovely stay at Jesse and Libby's apartment. It's as described, with all the essentials, in a central location. Thanks very much.

Jesse and Libby's place is just as described, clean and super well located within a few steps to restaurants and bars yet shielded from most of the noises as it's on a smaller street. We didn't have the chance to meet our hosts but check in was smooth and Jesse was quick in responding to our questions. We greatly enjoyed our experience.

My wife Elizabeth and I have loved living in Philadelphia for over ten years. This year we added little boy Benjamin to our family. We appreciate urban and country living, and in that spirit, we are just now relocating out of the city to beautiful Pennsylvania farm where I grew up.

We are avid travelers often planning three or four trips ahead. From nature, to small towns, to the cities of the world, we just can't get enough. Some of my favorite trips of the past few years have been Edinburgh and the Scottish highlands, the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, and San Francisco... this summer a wedding in Portugal and Andalucia, Spain!
