Light, airy and self-contained, this spacious upstairs apartment in our farmhouse features a cosy lounge, dining area and kitchenette. Sleeps 2 in a double room, 2 on a small double sofa bed and 1 child (up to age 5) on a fold-out bed. Includes a delicious home-grown Breakfast Platter for your first two mornings. Relax and unwind with lovely views, woodland walks, local beaches and true Purbeck charm. 🌿✨

The space
This Purbeck stone family smallholding offers the perfect countryside escape, with easy access to the coast, heathland, and the historic town of Wareham, home to a wide choice of great places to eat. In spring, we often have a few piglets on the farm — guests, especially children, love helping to feed them and collecting acorns, which they adore (just like Eeyore… or was it Tigger!).

The self-contained guest suite has its own private entrance via an outdoor staircase. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable sitting room, kitchenette, bathroom with both shower and bath, and a spacious double bedroom with a super king bed that can also be arranged as twins. There’s an option to sleep two more guests on the sofa bed for a small extra cost. We can also provide a travel cot, a fold-out “put-up” bed and a high chair — please note that children of any age count as one guest.

Breakfast for your first two mornings is included and ready for you to cook at your own pace in the kitchenette. We provide a delicious platter featuring our own sausages, bacon and eggs from our hens. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing anything from a simple fry-up to a gourmet meal — with basic store cupboard items provided and supermarkets conveniently located in Wareham.

We kindly ask guests not to bring pets into the apartment, to ensure the safety of our livestock and the comfort of all visitors.

From your base here, you’ll find so much to see and do. Explore breathtaking coastal walks, wildlife-filled heathlands, and local attractions such as The Tank Museum, Monkey World, Swanage Railway, and the home of Lawrence of Arabia. The area is rich with history, charm and family-friendly adventures — and our guidebook highlights just a few of the many things to enjoy during your stay.

The guest suite has its own entrance via an outside staircase. You also have access to our woodland walks.

Other things to note
Much of our electricity is from the solar panels on the roof of the house. Our family home is next to the apartment and we make every effort to allow you peace and also conduct our family life, Our woods are also home to owls. We write this as often people believe mistakenly that the countryside is silent.

Once voted by the Guardian as the best place to live in England, Wareham has a great Saturday market every week come rain or shine. There is a farmer's market on the 4th Thursday of the month and a weekly produce market run by the local auctioneers. There is also an urban farm shop called the Salt Pig and two supermarkets the Co-op and Sainsbury's.

Your Hosts Claire and Paul Davis. We live at Tanglewood farm with our 2 children Lola-Rae and Leo and our woof Lexi. Paul works for a local company in Corfe Castle and Claire looks after the day-to-day running of Tanglewood Farm. Claire previously worked as an account manager at Celebration Crackers making beautiful handmade bespoke Christmas crackers. On our farm we have a small flock of sheep and will soon have chickens and pigs in 2019. We have always enjoyed travelling and love staying in beautiful places. Lovers of food, family time and all things outdoors. We are always on hand to ensure you have an amazing holiday.
