The apartment has the perfect location. It is in an idyllic location, wonderfully quiet with no traffic at all. The locals were all very helpful and the lake is a beautiful spot 10 minutes away. The public transport is exceptional and you can easily arrive in the centre in about 20 minutes. The apartment itself is both spacious and homely. We loved the objects collected in their travels that adorned the apartment. It poured down most of our stay, however the first two days were gorgeous and the terrace is great for an aperitive/breakfast. Could not have asked for a better apartment or location and highly recommend Elisabeth's penthouse.

Elizabeth came out of the apartments to welcome us and was very helpful in showing us around and explaining the apartment's features. The terrace is exceptional, even better than the photos suggest, it gives a chance to eat breakfast at one end and dinner at the other if you wish.. real sense of outside space that is not normally present in an apartment, even a penthouse. The terrace and apartment look out over a forest in which a (winter) ski slalom can be seen. There are walks into the forest and one - perhaps 40 minutes - and quite uphill at times - leads to a Michelin starred restaurant with staggering views over Oslo to the fjord beyond. Like Norway generally this is not a snobbish establishment and even though we arrived at 10.45pm the friendly bar person served up drinks (not too dear) while we drank in the view. They also do bar food and pizza, as well as the tasting menus. Apartment is on two levels, indeed with the huge terrace that you cross to enter it is definitely a house lifted up in the air, a really pleasant place to be. Book lined landing and a lot of African and Norwegian art, gives it a relaxed cultured air. About ten minutes walk is a bus stop with a very frequent service (no need for any timetable, just walk down and wait at most a couple of minutes) that goes to the city centre and through it to other touristy places. You can of course switch lines and access ferries so a pass for public transport - zone 1 - is well worth it. A great time that felt like a home.

Elisabeth, the host, was very warm and welcoming and picked us up from the local bus station. She gave us lots of tips of things to do and introduced us to the flat and area. The apartment was warm and inviting, with lovely views, interesting art work and a wide range of books, even including Foucault - if you want to think about discourse analysis, power and knowledge whilst on holiday! :-) The area felt safe, with children play areas and had a nice community feel. The forest was a few minutes walk away, with lakes to swim in - beautiful. There were two local shops within walking distance, with all you needed. Public transport was excellent - frequent and on time. Eating out is expensive, but you can find cheaper places to eat on a budget, including vegetarian. Oslo itself has lots to do - museums, boat trips, art galleries, beaches, islands, parks. We were there 2 weeks and still had lots more we wanted to do. We would definitely recommend the flat and Oslo to other families.

We loved this flat; the living area is really spacious and the decor is excellent. Great location in family friendly, safe and quiet area. It was a really interesting insight into the area and the bus to Oslo was quick and easy to use. there is a really good supermarket a short distance away. Sadly we didn't make it to the lake or to the local Michelin restaurant, which was just a little too pricey for us. The flat is full of interesting academic books and pictures. But is also an obviously well loved family home which it felt a privilege to stay in for a few days.

Marius and Elisabeth have been absolutely wonderful hosts. Marius welcomed us with open arms and left us a ocean of great tips to discover, unfortunately we didn't manage to fully enjoy each tip as our stay was short but very sweet. The house is idyllic, located just a step away from a beautiful park (highly recommend taking a dip in the little lake there). I couldn't have had a better time.
