Blue Dog Quarters is a bright and stylish first floor apartment with a sunny decked terrace. It is located above the Blue Dog shop on the High Street in the centre of Clare, Suffolk's smallest town. Clare's pubs, cafés, excellent independent shops, antiques warehouse and country park complete with castle ruins are all within easy walking distance and the town makes an excellent base for exploring further afield in this pretty corner of Suffolk.

The space
The spacious accommodation is all on the first floor of this Grade 2 listed building and can comfortably accommodate six guests in a master bedroom (with en-suite), a further king size double bedroom, a twin bedded room and family bathroom. There is a large, bright eat-in kitchen leading out to a sunny roof terrace with outdoor seating for six. There is a further dining table in the spacious living room which was the original cheese store back in the days when the building housed a traditional grocery. The property features interesting decor throughout and artwork from renowned local artists such as Bernard Cheese and Edward Bawden.

GROUND FLOOR: The front door opens into a large hallway with plenty of space for storing outdoor clothing, shoes and buggies. A flight of stairs leads up to the living accommodation.

KITCHEN: The bright and modern eat-in kitchen is well equipped with a Smeg fridge/freezer, gas hob with electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and washing machine/tumble dryer. There is plenty of space for the dining table which comfortably seats 6.

FAMILY BATHROOM: The modern and spacious family bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and hand basin.

LIVING ROOM: The large living room is full of character with tongue and groove clad walls, lots of natural light and plenty of space to relax with two big sofas and a rocking chair. There is a feature gas stove to keep you cosy on chilly days and a further dining table with seating for up to 6. For entertainment there is a 40” flat screen TV with DVD/Blu-ray player and a soundbar that not only ensures great sound from the TV, but also connects wirelessly to your smartphone or iPod so that you can enjoy your favourite music.

BEDROOM 1: The master bedroom features a king size bed, a wardrobe and large chest of drawers for storage and a dressing table.

ENSUITE: The ensuite to the master bedroom has a large shower, WC and hand basin

BEDROOM 2: The second bedroom has a king size bed, a wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage.

BEDROOM 3: The twin bedroom has two single beds and a wardrobe and small bedside chests of drawers for storage.

OUTSIDE: At the rear of the property is a decked terrace with wooden table and seating for up to 6 guests.

Guest access
We are happy to store bikes under cover in the locked shop yard by prior arrangement at the time of booking.

Other things to note
There is unrestricted on-road parking a short distance along the High Street from the property. There is restricted one hour parking immediately outside which is handy for dropping off your belongings on arrival.

There is a high chair and travel cot (please bring your baby's own bedding). Please note that there is no stair gate on the stairs from the entrance hall up to the main accommodation and the apartment has not been specifically 'child proofed' so is not really suitable for very young children.

We love to know why people are visiting the area, so please tell us the reason for your planned visit and, very importantly, let us know who will be staying with you and the ages of any children.

I use Airbnb as a host and as a guest, so I like to think this helps me to be better at both! I love travelling with my husband, Jumbo, and where we stay is an important part of a successful trip for us - it doesn't have to be grand, just authentic, clean and definitely not bland. Location is vital - I want to be in the middle of things, whether that be in gorgeous remote scenery or a city, not in a lookalike hotel on a bypass. I own and run a shop in Clare which is below the apartment we rent. When I'm not working I love hiking and being outdoors, visiting galleries & gardens, being by the sea, finding unspoilt pubs and eating in great neighbourhood restaurants (who doesn't?).

During your stay
We like our guests to be able to come and go as they please and arrive at a time to suit them, so the keys to the property will be left in a key safe. I can't promise to be around during your stay, but will be available at the end of the phone or on email if there are any problems or specific queries about the accommodation. The shop downstairs is open seven days a week and will be happy to share a little local knowledge! We are pleased to be able to offer our guests a 10% discount on purchases made in the shop during their stay.
