Lovely quirky cottage, quiet location but close enough to be in town or on the beach in ten minutes. Veronique is really easy to make arrangements with. Fab place will definitely plan to return.

We had a super return trip to this sweet little house. It is in a quiet but very central location and is perfect for a family.

We had a great time in Veronique's house. It's very cosy and so close to the city centre. Veronique really made us feel at home and we would recommend it to anyone.

As we stepped through the open door to meet Veronique's local friend to check in, our first impression of La Trouvillaise was that it was perfect! It is small, beautifully and imaginatively decorated with plenty of windows for lots of natural light. The house was clean and uncluttered, with very well thought out storage for the good selection of cutlery, crockery and saucepans. There was even a small dishwasher! Lovely bathroom and bedrooms with fresh cotton sheets.... Just mind your head in the top floor bedroom, which is nested under the eaves! My eight year old daughter's favourite thing was the narrow winding staircase with the rope handholds. It was just a short walk down (quite a steep hill) into the main part of the town, with lots of restaurants, the boulangerie and the beach, and we spent our first afternoon there. Then, still salty from swimming, we joined the crowd at Les Vapours for a fantastic moules frite, watching the evening promenaders as they passed our pavement table. The next day we set off for a beach a good distance away, Barneville-Carteret, which had rock pools. On Wednesday we enjoyed the Trouville market (also on Saturday) and then browsed the amazing fish market for the ingredients for our supper. We picked out baby squid, large prawns and turbot. We made our way back up to the house via Rue des Bains stopping at the extraordinarily photogenic shop devoted to cans of fish... Le Belle Iloise. Then a very short drive south along the coast to Villars sur Mer to pick up fossils from the beach - unusual souvenirs to take home for school friends. Home to cook our delicious supper which was a huge success with a bit of juggling on the two hobs and oven. Sadly we only spent three nights at La Trouvillaise on this trip, but we will certainly be coming back.
