It's a simply beautiful and historic country property (circa 1928); casual and laid back yet elegant and romantic. Lovingly stewarded and we continue to restore all aspects. The cottage you will stay in is cozy and the estate grounds are perfect to meditate, read, reflect, or swim and sunbath by the gorgeous garden pool. Guests are welcome to use grounds as seating spaces and tables throughout however you have your own gated and private patio that's part of the cottage reservation. Restoration.
Guests with well trained pets are welcome and will incur an additional cleaning fee.
Private iron gate with remote access. Check-in time is 3:00pm or after. Check-out is up until 12:30 pm on day of departure.
Interaction with guests
Interaction is made upon your arrival greeting and departure farewell by host, Hannah. As this is our family home you may engage family members on the property grounds as well yet we have discovered that's fairly minimal - so your space in the cottage is really your own during reservation.
Other things to note
This is a country property in an agriculturally zoned area not within city limits; so make sure you are seeking a rustic environment with some animals, maybe a pile of leaves, free range chickens pecking around the property, some equipment out or a worker on grounds for property maintenance/ planting, etc. during your stay.
-Please make sure to wash dishes, glasses and pots/ pans before your departure from the cottage.
- Leave soiled and used items in a pile if possible.
-You can find a space to smoke on the grounds for smokers; yet please no smoking inside of cottage; just step outside.
-Take the time to rest, reflect, and get restored.
-If you have time, take a drive through this part of Central California and visit our wineries, farm stands, and downtown Lodi for food/ movies and other small towns. Great way to spend an afternoon.
House rules for your pet:
-Make sure your pet does not damage the cottage in any way; there is plenty of space (3 acres) to take your pet out onto the grounds. Pets love Bella Donna.
-If you have a pet please notify us through an inquiry in advance of making your reservation to address both host and guest expectation, needs, and the additional fee.
-Good communication is the key and we are glad to host both you and your pet.
Come to our beautiful, historic and most elegant estate with a lovely cottage for you in the Central Valley near the Lodi Wine Country and University of the Pacific.
We like to travel and do interesting stuff: we were pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago in España walking from town to town across the gorgeous Spanish countryside (actually the Camino de Ignacio). This was the most physically challenging yet transformational engagement we have done as a couple.
We also love drives and fun anywhere in Northern California along the American and Russian Rivers, Cache Creek, Gold Country exploration in Amador County, Sonoma and Napa, and the mud baths at Calistoga is a favorite.
On weekends we may work the property along with tending to sheep, lounging by the pool, and restoring different aspects of Bella Donna - maybe a bit of yoga on the property or at the studio. After a hard day's work we like to head over to one of the 50+ wineries in our community. We have a few favorites.
We are busy executives so Bella Donna is both a place for retreat, reflection and restoration. Our friends love to come out to our home and stay in in a guest room for a restorative getaway.
