A unique experience in a rustic sheepwagon located on a working ranch in Bluff Dale, TX. Escape the hustle & bustle of the city to the peace & quiet of the country. Meet our 2 sheepwagons: Gary and Marilyn (named after an old farmer and his wife who originally built the sheepwagons). The sheepwagons are located inside the Tiny Home Retreat at Waumpii Creek Ranch. Please be sure to read the detailed description carefully about this unique, rustic experience!

The space
This is a RUSTIC EXPERIENCE. Please plan accordingly. There is no wi-fi or television. There is no running water inside the sheepwagon, which means there is NO SHOWER. The restroom is a custom-built outhouse (to keep with the theme of a truly rustic experience). There is a water spigot available nearby to supply you with water to drink, cook, and hose off if needed. We also have a gas grill available in the area if you prefer to cook outside. There is a small amount of electricity available in the sheepwagon for charging devices and operating lights. When we originally purchased the sheepwagon, there was a wood burning stove to provide heat. In order to better outfit the sheepwagon for the Texas weather, we have replaced the woodburning stove with a portable A/C unit. Heat is provided in the winter by a small electric heater, which is plenty of heat to keep you toasty warm on a cold Texas night! ***PLEASE NOTE: because the sheepwagon is not insulated, the A/C unit cannot keep up with the Texas heat during the hottest part of the day! We recommend finding something else to do during the hot part of the day (even hiking around the Ranch), and the sheepwagon cools off nicely around sunset.***

Each sheepwagon sleeps 2 people in a double bed. A pull-out table with bench seating, heating or air conditioning depending on the season (sometimes both in the same day!), a 2-burner propane stove, and a stock of pots and pans are also available.

The sheepwagons are located inside an old set of cattle working pens tucked in the middle of a grove of cedar and oak trees. The working pens include the original set of cattle working chutes dating back to the early 1970’s. In addition to the historic cattle working chute, you’ll also find these features inside this working pen area: beautiful, mature Cedar trees, rustic fencing, an old cast iron bathtub with some goldfish, flowerbeds made from old tires, water spigot, picnic table at each sheepwagon site, fire pit, outdoor gas grill, and fun lighting to create a unique experience that you won’t soon forget. We have stumps around the fireplace, but you might want to bring camp chairs for more comfortable seating.

Waumpii Creek Ranch now features 2 hiking trails plus a 9-hole Disc Golf Course. If you have your own discs, please bring them. Otherwise you are welcome to borrow discs from us. More details about this in our welcome message.

On your visit, you may see cattle, chickens, pigs, goats, deer, fox, turkey, coyotes, various birds, or one of the ranch dogs: Jackson, Auggie, Bean, or Shiner. In fact, you will likely be greeted by the ranch dogs when you arrive…don’t worry, they are very friendly!

Weather: Sometimes Texas can unleash some crazy weather. If inclement weather creates an unsafe scenario for Guests, you may request a change or partial cancellation of an itinerary. We will work with AirBnB to process an appropriate refund if needed.
