The space

Our home is located on the north side of Pender Harbour near Daniel Point on 2 acres of private, forested land. We have a great view of the ocean looking across to Texada Island and are a stone's throw from public access to the water. We're also walking distance to some warm, fresh water lakes as well as hiking trails that offer spectacular views of the Pender Harbour area. We're about a 10 minute drive to amenities that include groceries, restaurants, gas, marinas and more.

Inside you'll find all the comforts of home including modern appliances in the kitchens, wood stove, movies and games and all linens provided.

We have an ideal spot for families and group gatherings but we're equally suitable for romantic getaways. Pets are welcome here too!

The main house includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. There is also a king size trundle bed in the living room.
If you need more space, the Serenity Suite will sleep four more with 1 bedroom and a double futon in the living room. This suite also has a full bathroom and its own kitchen.

We are on a septic field. Please do not flush anything down the toilet but TP and the obvious.
We ask that you refrain from using the garburator and do not dump cooking grease down the drain as it clogs the holding tank and puts more waste into the septic field.

Please take any garbage/recycling you make with you when you leave. Bears are a real concern and leaving any garbage behind is as bad for them as it is for us. There is a landfill on Garden Bay Road.

Pets are welcome so long as you scoop the poop! We are in bear/coyote country so please watch your small pets when they are outside and don't leave them unattended.

Please place any used linens/towels on top of the washing machine in the laundry room so we know what to clean for the next guests.

Please don't leave any dirty dishes.

To avoid unwelcome critters, please make sure you don't leave any food outside or the BBQ lid open overnight. Please pull the BBQ away from the house if in use.

Please respect the neighbourhood. Most people come up to Pender to relax and get away from the noise. Try not to bring it with you.

Above all, please leave the house in the condition you found it (hopefully clean and tidy!)

We had a wonderful stay at Marie's beautiful cabin. We've stayed in a number of cabins near Vancouver, and this one is a gem. The forest surroundings and ocean view are lovely, and the house is big and clean, with a well stocked kitchen & comfy rooms. It was easy to get find and convenient to get into. Lots of parking too. We had a great time having BBQs, hanging out on the deck, and relaxing in the family room watching the sunset. Our group loved the art and the vintage feel. Also, everyone was really pleased at how well-priced this place is. We booked it for a group of 12 adults for a short celebratory getaway (40th birthday) and everyone had a bed! Thank you Marie for hosting us at this great place! We will definitely recommend it to others!

Was a disappointing stay as the amount we paid was not cheap. As soon as we walked in the house all you could smell was cigarette smoke. Some of the furniture was broken and old. The area is gorgeous and we would see deer from the porch. Getting into the house was a breeze and our host did make that part very easy. I guess our trip just didn't start off very good do to the over whelming smell of cigarette smoke and that we had brought 2 babies and a toddle and that is not an ideal environment for little lungs. Sad to say but I would not stay there again.

Response from Marie:
Hi Kara, I'm sorry to hear about the cigarette smoke and would like you to know that we have a strict no smoking indoors policy. As you can read from our previous reviews, we have never had complaints about cigarette smoke or any kind of smell. My guess is the guests who checked out the same day you checked in did not follow our house rules. My sincere apologies and I will be more explicit with future guests that there are consequences for smoking indoors. Not sure what broken furniture you are talking about? It would be helpful for me to know. I am here right now and nothing appears to be broken. Please be more specific so I can fix it for the next guests.

Room is clean, but it's old. It can see the lake. There is too many insect. If there are group people go there is fine, but for four girls it's still little scare.

Our family had a fabulous 12 day stay at this property. The house is beautifully situated with a great view of the water and easy access to the local lakes and marinas. We only used the main house as there were just 4 of us but had access to the suite if we wished. Katherine and Ruby Lakes were our main stops, both offering sandy beaches with warm clear water. We used the fire pit in the evenings to toast marshmallows and make S'mores, a favourite activity for our boys. Our 17' boat was moored at Pender Harbour Marina which is only 5 minutes away. This gave us easy access to cruise up Agamemnon Channel, head south to Buccaneer Bay or take a sunset cruise. We were within walking distance of both Pender Hill and Daniel Point as well as a public beach, even if it was a typical rocky coastal beach! Skookumchuk Rapids were a little further afield but still only about a 40 minute drive plus the walk in (about 45-60 minutes). Try to catch the peak inflow for big standing waves. If you're really lucky there might be some kayakers braving the rapids. Great place, we loved our time there!

My husband and I bought our dream vacation home in 2009 and have enjoyed every minute we've spent in the Pender Harbour area.
We share a passion for art and you may find some of our work, as well as the work of our friends hanging on the walls of our vacation home.
As your hosts, we endeavour to make your stay as comfortable and hassle free as possible - it's your vacation, after all.
