Interaction with guests

Portmagee Seaside Cottages is a family run business. The family is made up of Elizabeth and Francie and our children Paul (studying Engineering in Galway), Aisling (living and working in Australia) and Roisin (living and working in Cork).

We also have a farm with pedigree Charolais cows and ducks (which occasionally lay eggs which we are happy to share!).

We have good local knowledge of all that is going on, we can recommend nice places to visit and know all the local boat and activity operators. In our spare time (which can be limited!) we are avid walkers. We would be happy to advise our guests on walking routes in the locality and time permitting might also be available to lead our guests on a walk.

Old Stones Cottage is in an incredibly beautiful location. It has a beach at the bottom of the garden, with Valentia Island as the main view from the house. We stayed in September and everyday had mist, rain, sun, wind, incredible skies , etc. Very wild and to come back to a peat/log fire was heaven. The location is great with easy access to Portmagee, Valentia Island, Ring of Skellig, Ring of Kerry, etc. The layout of the cottage is very good and the open plan living room/dining room/ kitchen is lovely. Elizabeth the host was very welcoming and very helpful when we needed a place to stay for another couple of nights.

We loved Old Stones Cottage, so peaceful and full of character. It is also very well equipped and comfortable. My boys had great fun skimming stones/slate and I enjoyed bird watching from many windows in the house. It is in a beautiful situation opposite Valentia island and the whole area is very picturesque.

Elizabeth's place is a real gem. A lovely home in an amazing location. Elisabeth is a very thoughtful host and even went to extra effort to buy toys for our toddler after we had asked if there was anything in the house for her. We had a great time in Portmagee and hope to return!

We thought the cottage and view were fantastic. Elizabeth was very helpful and when we needed something she immediately got it for us, which was very kind. It was a lovely place to stay. Portmagee is a good spot to be for visiting this area.

Elizabeth was an excellent host and had a really lovely cottage for us to stay in. She was friendly and extremely helpful during our stay. The views from the cottage and the surrounding area are fantastic. Portmagee is a charming fisherman's village and we often dined at 'Bridge Bar' where we received excellent service and food. Elizabeth went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible by driving us into nearby villages which we were truly grateful for. We would most certainly come back but at a different time of year as it was a bit too cold with many of the local businesses shut for the offseason.
