Where you’ll be

Venice, Veneto, Italy

If you want to be away from the herds of tourists and crowds, Santa Croce is ideal. Santa Croce is home to some of Venice’s major transport hubs, including the main port and Piazzale Roma. It’s also the least touristy sestiere in Venice. The tourist attractions are mostly in the district’s eastern area. They include the Church of San Giacomo dell’Orio, its lively campo known for its yearly town fair, and the Fondaco dei Turchi, a 13th-century palazzo.

I am an American that moved to Italy in 2008, using it as my base to travel the globe. My motto is: "Do as the locals do" which is why I ended up writing "Venice for Rookies", a guide book for authentic travelers. I am responsible, clean, and trustworthy. I consider myself a foodie and a wine lover, so any helpful hints are welcome!
