Charming 2BD/2B cottage in the heart of Tidewater VA. Easy, scenic, and traffic-free drive to Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and the historic sites, shops, and restaurants of downtown Gloucester Courthouse. Serene rural setting in the heart of Daffodil country, with beautiful vistas for chilling, hiking, biking, and boating.

The space

A 1950 cottage custom-built for a WWII veteran and his bride, the house features a built-in closet and cabinets in the master bedroom, charming details throughout, and a European economy of scale in the newly-added and recently renovated bathrooms. The cottage is situated on 7 acres of beautiful fields surrounded by historic buildings within walking distance to Mobjack Bay and its many inlets, as well as John's Point public boat launch. Guests can spend their days exploring the back roads and old country stores of Gloucester County and the Northern Neck--by car, bike, and on foot--or venture to Colonial Virginia's plantation country and the Historic Triangle of Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown. Guests who wish to explore further afield can drive 1 hour to Virginia Beach or 3 hours to the mountains of Shenandoah National Park, while those who wish to stay closer to home will find the York River and Chesapeake Bay beaches in Gloucester Point, Yorktown, Mathews County, and throughout the Northern Neck to be an easy 15 to 30 minute drive. Quaint local shops and restaurants, a year-round farmer's market, two health food stores, an independent book store, and a homemade-ice cream parlor (seasonal April-December), are all within a scenic ten-minute drive from the cottage. Larger grocery stores, pizza parlors, and chain stores/restaurants are also under a ten-minute drive.

Enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage in the cottage. Katherine was wonderful to communicate with

Katherine's Cottage was perfect for our stay in Gloucester County. We were 30 minutes away from the site of our nephew's wedding and all the other celebrations included, so the cottage was a great and restful escape from all the activities. We were four adults staying in the two bedrooms and found everything comfortable and inviting. We loved the air conditioning as it was hot and humid for our stay. We recommend the cottage for a great get-away time in the Tidewater region of Virginia.

I'm so glad to hear that you all had a wonderful stay and were able to enjoy all of the wedding festivities! I would love to host you again any time your travels might take you back to Gloucester.

Katherine is a super host! Her home is lovingly cared for and is a step back in time with many 1950's references! The beds are super comfy and we really enjoyed time as a family out on the front porch enjoying the scent of the blooming magnolia! We played frisbee in the side yard and very much enjoyed the property! The chocolate donuts were a lovely treat too!

We stayed here with our 18 month old daughter and had a great time. It was so quiet out in the country and she slept wonderfully in the pack n play provided. We also really appreciated the high chair during meals and cooking outdoors on the grill.

Response from Katherine:
I'm so glad to hear that the pack n play and the high chair were helpful, Bayley! If there's anything else you can think of that would make the cottage more child-friendly, please don't hesitate to let me know.
