Neighbourhood highlights

From the hut you can explore the literary hotspot of Hay on Wye with its world-famous literary festival in May (15 miles), historical Hereford with its spectacular Norman cathedral housing the Mappa Mundi (12 miles), or the local food capital, Abergavenny, with its Food Festival in September (12 miles).

For walkers, you can find far reaching views over the Welsh Marches from Offa's Dyke path, just 2 miles from the hut. Slightly further afield, the stunning Brecon Beacons offers a wide variety of walking routes.

For anglers and canoeists, there is excellent fishing or relaxed canoeing on the Wye and Usk rivers by arrangement.

There are also plenty of opportunities for cycling or mountain biking, although be warned, the terrain is quite challenging!

We are lucky to be surrounded by a rich local craft scene, and many artisans offer day and half-day courses in rural pursuits including knife forging, basket weaving, wood carving and glass blowing. Wellness retreats can be arranged with sound therapy in nearby forest.
