About this listing
This top floor bedroom is available for your enjoyment. Two tube stations close by ensures a great base to explore London.
Bedroom has an original Victorian Fireplace, large wardrobe space and direct access to an adjoining bathroom.
Our home is a shared home with access to a separate shared kitchen. Welcome to our home!
Your room is an original Victorian bedroom, formerly built as part of a Gentleman's boarding house. i.e. the house was designed to provide independent space for each guest When we renovated, we made great efforts to maintain the original layout of the rooms - but I am afraid the outside toilet did not remain!
Guests will have access to the whole house's three bathrooms, 1 guest lounge and 1 kitchens and the garden.
Interaction with guests
When we are home, we love to chat to guests about what they are doing and where they have been and are keen to help with any questions that they have about London and places to visit. Or if you prefer to go it alone, we are happy to leave you in peace.
Our neighbourhood is surrounded by green parks and open spaces, including Finsbury Park, Clissold Park and the Sailing lakes only 100m away - complete with architecturally designed building - by the same designer of the London Eye!
The local bohemian shops of Stoke Newington are in walking distance (through Clissold Park) and the trendy shops of Islington are only a 15 minute bus journey away (no 341 bus stop is just 30 metres from our house).
We love the wide range of transport links that our are has:
Finsbury Park has two tubes lines (Victoria and Piccadilly) that can race you into London in less than 10 minutes to Kings Cross and only 15 mins to Oxford Circus.
Our house has access to two tube stations - Manor House and Finsbury Park and so you can choose which one to use.
From Manor House, you can reach Covent Garden in 20 mins
The buses are also extremely useful and efficient - 15 mins to Angel in Islington - home to numerous trendy restaurants (e.g. Jamie Oliver's Italian), and 15 mins to Camden Town - home to the famous Camden Market.
Other things to note
There are other people who are using the shared spaces (kitchen and lounge) and so we cannot guarantee they will be kept immaculately tidy, but they are cleaned regularly. We prefer to allow our guests access to these areas rather than deny access because they are shared, and as usage of these spaces is low, it makes sense to allow our AirBnB access. The long term lodgers are always very welcoming to AirBnB guests, if you manage to see them, as most of the time they are out working or socialising at friends.
We have few rules at the house, as we wish guests to feel at home while staying here, but just for clarification, we ask guests to:
1) Keep the front door "key locked" with they leave and after they return home.
2) Respect other guests by ensuring they keep loud noise to a minimum, particularly between 11pm and 7am
3) To keep the kitchen area clean and tidy after using it - to wash dishes etc...

As a New Zealander I have a great love of the outdoors and anything sports related.
I spent my entire childhood either competing as a equestrian show-jumper or climbing mountains in New Zealand.
My skill as a Chartered Accountant and passion for sport inspired me to set up two sports charities for children here in London and I also help run our local athletic club, which is right on our doorstep - in Finsbury Park. I coach the young children three days a week.
As a UK Athletics coach, it has been a very exciting time in London, as since the Olympic Games, I have had the opportunity to work alongside several international coaches who coached the Great Britain Olympic athletic team. As a result I have become a "mad guru" on running technique and injury prevention, which is always a useful skill to have - for oneself especially!! But of course, I am very happy to offer guidance and tips to others, should they ask.
I speak fluent French and holiday regularly in southern France and Spain, where I have Spanish family. We also love visiting other countries, and hope to have another holiday in the USA soon....
My motto in life: Happiness comes from helping others - especially when it comes from the heart.
