We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at magic cottage. A cosy, comfortable cabin with a gorgeous bell tent that my daughters loved sleeping in. We felt like we were in the middle of no where instead of someone’s back garden! A great alternative to the ‘normal’ hotel room. Hammock w…

Very charming little cottage with everything you need for a few days of bliss. The cabin is very comfortable inside (lovely sofa and bed) and the outside area/garden is a real joy. The hammock is great for chilling and for kids, the big tent is heaven. Zoe was so friendly and w…

Hi the photos are old stock the cabin interior looks similar and was clean and tidy apart from the woodlice in the shower and in the bed. The shower also has mould and woodlice will greet you every morning when you shower. The cabin and tent are very close to the house (about 20f…

Response from Zoe:
I hope you will read all our other reviews and make your own judgement on Lynn's review! Especially relevant are Katie’s (who checked out the day Lynn arrived), and Almudena’s (who checked in the day Lynn left). Both left us lovely reviews and five star ratings for every element including cleanliness, location and value. Nothing was different during Lynn’s stay. But, to reply to her comments… The shower is always thoroughly cleaned. We get a few woodlice occasionally (never in the bed!), but it is a wood cabin in a garden surrounded by lush foliage and trees, and they are not nasty creatures. Lynn unfortunately stayed the weekend the rains came after six weeks of sun and drought. So a few woodlice obviously thought the cosy, warm cabin was a nice place to shelter (there were only one or two – she sent me pictures!). We clearly state the cabin and tent are in the walled garden of our place. There is a fence that screens off the deck and an area of garden that is private to the cabin and tent. Other people mention how lovely and private it feels. The pictures are from a little while ago, and don’t show some improvements we have made including the fence to provide privacy, and half glazed stable doors for more light inside. The garden has established itself and is lush, with honeysuckle covering the archway, which smells devine on summer evenings with pretty fairy lights throught it. The cabin is made from recycled materials, and we replace and update elements as and when we need to. But the photos totally reflect the feel of the place. We will put some new ones up to show the garden and cabin as it is now. You approach Magic Cottage by passing a village type green on one side, and a little 12th Century church with pretty frontage on the other. You turn into our private drive at the end of which we (The Stables), and The Manor House are situated. The cabin and glamping tent are in the walled garden of The Stables, all set within the curtilage of the Manor. There is a high garden wall to the left of the cabin over which there are open fields, trees behind, the garden of the manor over the wall at the end of your garden area in front, and our converted stable block forming the 4th side of the walled garden. There is a house behind the trees behind the cabin, but it is not on a housing estate! There is a map provided in the cabin that has recommendations on where to go and shows a lovely local pub, The Osborne View, which overlooks the sea and is a half hour walk away through lanes and countryside, or quick drive. There are other country pubs within a ten minute drive. I don’t recommend the closest pub unless you want to watch a big match on Sky with a cheap meal and a pint. There are lots of leaflets on things to do, and I mention some of these things in my description of the cabin and tent. All in all I was very sad to read Lynn’s review. She never mentioned anything during her stay and said she had a nice time when she left. I myself always find the best in places, and generally have a lovely time. Some however are determined to find the worst. I think I am probably a lot happier, and we would love to invite other happy people to share our little piece of heaven at the bottom of our garden.
