Welcome to River Cottage---This is a very nice cottage home overlooking the Wabash River. The host lives upstairs. Guests will have access to the entire main floor of the cottage that includes a private entrance. The cottage includes a kitchen (all new appliances), bathroom, living room, dining area, and laundry. There are complete amenities throughout and the views are priceless. Don't be shocked to see a family of deer in the backyard. Please make sure to read the House Rules.

The space
Guests will occupy 1400 sq. ft. of living space on the main floor. The host lives and occupies the entire upstairs of the house. I was forced to chose "entire house" when setting up my site with airbnb. Airbnb doesn’t have a box to check that describes my listing. It’s not an entire home or a one room listing. It’s my home and I live on the premises. My personal things are downstairs. I use the whole house when I do not have guests. My kids and grandkids stay with us from time to time when I have no guests. There are personal items like photos, toys, paintings, etc around the cottage. I am an artist and photographer what you will find is my creative works around the cottage.

Guest access
Hosts will always have guests tell them, I didn't get a code for the door. This is simply not true. The code is sent three times!! Airbnb emails the code after your booking is confirmed, and the code is sent two more times. The last one being 48 hours before you check in. So if you didn't get it, please check your spam folder. Guest have their own private entrance. After entering the cottage please take off your shoes and put on the house slippers located on the shoe rack. The slippers are not for guests to take home. I wash and bleach all the slippers between bookings.

Other things to note
The host lives upstairs! There will be a fee for each additional guest listed on the reservation. Please pay attention to the extra cost when you pay for your reservation.

I am a warm inviting host with a happy-go-lucky disposition. I'm also approachable, I actually welcome it. So, please do not be afraid to contact me about anything.

That being said, I have been told, as all host have, we need to spell everything out. What guests do not understand, even I didn't realize at first, is the description and house rules listed for any Airbnb stay are a contract that you automatically agree to after a guest makes a reservation. So don't think that hosts are tyrants because of all the rules. I am certainly not a tyrant.

These rules have been created out of experience. Every one of them is here because —
1. For the safety of the guests and the host.
2. The host has had a bad experience with hosting a guest.

This part is for those who don't like to follow the rules or don't think they apply to them. Parties of any kind are not allowed!! You cannot have a bunch of friends or family to visit at the cottage at all hours of the night or even stay the night. I’ve not had a good experience allowing this. If you do have a bunch of your friends show up causing total chaos and the hosts ask them to leave, and they do, only to find out they snuck back in and spent all night at the cottage smoking pot, being loud, drinking, trashing the cottage, etc., the host will call the cops. The state police are only a couple of miles up the road and can be here in less than five minutes. This has already happened twice, and both times the cops were called. So stop and think before you book, or you could be booked into a jail cell. All the neighbours watch the cottage 24/7 when the host is gone, and they have had to call the cops because of rowdy and rough behaviour coming from my cottage. They are told how many guests are staying at the cottage while I'm gone, so don't book this cottage if you think you can outsmart the host by throwing a party. You will also be banned from Airbnb for not following the host's house rules and breaking the law— Pot is illegal in the State of Indiana.

All I ask from my guests is to please leave the cottage as clean as it was when you arrived. For example, if you left something out, like a glass in the sink or on the counter, and it was not there when you arrived, then it cannot be there when you leave. And please wash out the bathroom sink after you brush your teeth or shave. See pretty simple, right :)

Things the host is not responsible for during a guest's stay: making restaurant reservations for a guest, providing food, changing sheets, washing your clothes, booking a cab, arranging daily activities, etc. This is not a bed and breakfast or a hotel. Airbnb is an opportunity for a host to share their home, and it's a wonderful concept that has swept the world. Pretty much everyone who chose to Airbnb won't do hotels if they absolutely don't have to. And make sure to look at

I say this to all my guests: I am here to make your stay a pleasant and cozy one. If you can't find anything or have a question about anything in the cottage, you must let me know. Communication is the key to a wonderful Airbnb experience.

Neighbourhood highlights

I only have three neighbors and they are very nice and keep to themselves. There is traffic along County Rd 43 coming off Interstate 65 but for the most part it is a very quiet cottage.
