Where you’ll be

Rangeley ME , Maine, United States

This is a wilderness environment with dirt roads to ride bikes and walk to view nature. There are several ponds that can be reached by walking, biking, xcty skiing, or on snowshoes. Loon Lake pubic access is at the west end, a short 10 minute ride or 30 minute walking distance. There are three beautiful nature walks from the house through the wilderness to view nature and the beauty of this area. Two of the trails cross into the conversation land owned by the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and to Loon Lake...one trail loops around Loon Lake and back to the house. The third walk goes up the wilderness Russell Road 2 miles to secluded and beautiful Cow Pond with a view of Spotted Mountain in the background. The Russell Road borders our property. If interested, please ask about these 3 nature walks. Please do not access Loon Lake via private property. Respect the lake side owners' land. ITS 84 can be accessed from the driveway. Snowmobiles and 4 wheelers are only allowed to travel to the trails and from the trails... from the driveway of the house. No riding within the state game preserve, on Loon Lake, or around on the roads of Loon Lake Association.

I am a native Maine senior, retired, after a 50 year career with Hannaford Brothers Supermarket chain. I absolutely love the Maine outdoors, owning two homes that really speak to Maine's unsurpassed natural environment and beauty. One isolated home is in Rangeley, a stone's throw from pristine Loon Lake...the other home is on an island in the middle of the Saco River. A Class One river supplying over 250k southern Maine residents with their drinking water. I am a registered recreational Maine guide who enjoys hiking, canoeing, kayaking, bicycling, xcty and alpine skiing, snowshoeing, and nature. Rangeley, ME is one of my favorite destinations for all of that. I am a tour guide for folks coming off cruise ships along the Maine coast in the summer, and once held a Broker's license in Maine real estate. I enjoy cooking outside in the firepit and inside in the woodstove. Folk, blues, and bebop jazz are my favorite music venues. I welcome you the opportunity to stay in this well appointed cozy cape in the quiet solitude of quintessential backwoods Maine, yet only 10 minutes from Rangeley Village and God's Country. "All good things are wild, and free." Henry David Thoreau Peace my friends!
