The neighbourhood

At our Domain, we have international travelers. The local community is a very typical village, mainly poor people and there is a Haitian refugees settlement. Every local is nice to our guests and create lasting bonds. We are at the very end of Munoz village, in the rich vegetation. Eat the fruits of the season. Many paths for hiking around and different swimming holes along the river. Welcome! Bienvenidos!

You can't beat this place for the price. The eco friendly experience is a big plus and having the accessibility to the river is awesome. We had a great experience here.

A very special and unique experience. Extremely warm, family, lots of activities (if you like), fun, welcoming, quiet and healing. The best of all worlds. Diana has created a special place on earth. Her son Samuel treats all the guest like Royalty. Great food too! I have met people from all over the world that have been coming to Suncamp for 5 to 10 years. The whole experience feels like a Rain Forest resort-yet entirely local, with a festive Dominican flair. There is truly no better way to begin your experience in the Dominican Republic.

Sam and Diana are super sweet hosts, and their staff very friendly as well. I very much enjoyed my stay at SunCamp, and like most people who visit, I will most likely be back! I found my studio to have everything i needed (and then some!). Was even surprised to get hot water! The location is amazing, feels like you're deep, deep in the jungle. Travelling alone could be a little crippling but i made friends with other visitors and some locals, plus Bobby the old shepherd kept me safe, guarding my door every night and coming along for jogs in the campo, or going for errands in the community. The only downfall has got to be the mosquitoes, but they're inevitable. I spent the first 3 nights getting stung despite wearing loads of Deet, i wish they had provided one without me asking for it! But besides that, my stay was beyond my expectations. So much to do, yet it is also perfect for simple contemplation, meditation and yoga.

Diane and Samuels place is a gem!! Loved every moment of our stay there. When we initiallygot lost, Samuel was patient and able to get us directly where we needed. Beware, of Maps, get directions from Samuel. We were upgraded to their newly renovated room and couldn't recommend it enough. The comforts of home in the village. Treat yourself and stay here while in Puerto Plata :)

we really enjoyed our stay at the suncamp! samuel and the others were very cool and welcoming. we arrived over two hours late at the airport and were surprised to see that the driver was still waiting there to pick us up...made us feel very welcome immediately. sam was a gracious host and very welcoming and informative about the area. the neighborhood was very cool, very "real dominican" feel. would stay again.

I had a great experience at SunCamp. It is a relaxing change of place and you will want to immediately extend your stay. The environment is great and definitely gives you a true Dominican Experience as promised. This is not a five star resort and instead offers the opportunity for something different. The host and staff are attentive, the river that runs through the compound is a great place to spend your days and it is a great, off the beaten path experience all around.
