Bentfield is unique. The lawn leads to the beach. There are spectacular views to Arran, Ailsa Craig, over the bay and up the West Coast. Relax in the hot tub overlooking the sea. Chat around the built in barbecue. Explore the garden. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga and breakfast area. There's a dining room, 2 sitting rooms and a sun room. Six bedrooms sleep twelve, ideal for families. Relax and watch the sunset!

This is a truly special house. You'll never forget evenings around the barbecue or in the hot tub, sounds of the waves in the background, waiting for the spectacular sunset over Arran, Children will run around the springy lawn for hours, until it's time for an expedition within the 4 acre garden. This could be playing on the lawn, exploring the pine woods in the sand dunes or venture outside Bentfield down the rocky steps to the beach. Indoors, there's a timeless and quirky charm. The walls are lined with art, antique and modern. Furniture is comfortable and stylish. Almost all the rooms have the spectacular views over the sea to Arran, and the ones that don't look over the field and golf course towards Prestwick.

BENTFIELD HOUSE
The holiday home is a traditional Georgian Scottish home. The views are spectacular, looking west across Ayr Bay, taking in Ailsa Craig, Mull of Kintyre, Arran, and Lady Isle and north up the Clyde. The sunsets are amazing!

On the ground floor
Elegant hall

Kitchen and breakfast room - beautifully equipped with an Aga, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker and all the cooking pots and pans you'll need. There are two smaller tables here, each seating 6, but the whole party can eat together in the dining room.

Utility room - washing machine, freezer, second fridge, tumble dryer, sink and separate downstairs loo

Dining room - this room is perfect for celebrations. The table seats 12, with plenty of space to serve a feast.

Sitting room - with a log burner, books, and games. There are plenty of sofas and arm chairs. 40’’ Freeview TV and DVD player. Rest, read, talk or enjoy the view through the bay window.

Sitting room - huge and elegant room with open fire, bay windows looking over the sea with window seats.

Sun room - this is the most wonderful room, perfect for taking in the views when it's chilly and relaxing to wonder at the sunset.

At the far end of the ground floor, are 3 bedrooms:

Bedroom 1: Large room with fabulous sea views from the twin beds. En-suite wet room with shower, toilet, basin and bidet.

Bedroom 2: With double bed and pretty fireplace.

Bedroom 3: With twin beds.

Bathroom: With shower over bath, basin and toilet.

First Floor
Small landing, off which are:

Bedroom 4 - huge bedroom with super kingsize bed and single bed and stunning sea views out of the dormer windows.

Bedroom 5 - with twin beds and dormer windows with sea views

Bedroom 6 - small with single bed, views over the golf course.

Bathroom: With bath, basin and toilet.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels, WiFi and fuel for open fire and wood burner included. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Enclosed lawned garden with covered patio area, barbecue and garden furniture. 4-acre grounds with woodland. Hot tub for 8 (private). Bike store. Private parking for 6 cars. No smoking. Dogs welcome. The garden leads straight down to the sea.

Neighbourhood highlights

Bentfield is on its own small promontory on Prestwick Beach, between St Nicholas Golf Course, and the sea, 10 minutes walk from Prestwick town, but it feels like a different world. If you can tear yourselves away from Bentfield during your stay, there are plenty of activities on the door step, or a short drive away. Try a day in Arran, a short ferry crossing away, drive to Burns Cottage, Culzean Castle, walk in the Carrick Hills, puzzle over the Electric Brae, visit Glasgow or Edinburgh.If you feel energetic, hire bikes in Irvine, cycle the Ayrshire Coastal Path to Ayr, and take the train back. Enjoy the beautiful countryside and the warm Gulf Stream weather. The sunsets are stupendous.

My Parents bought Bentfield in 1953, and I grew up there with my brother and two sisters. We loved it, running wild about the garden, swimming all the year round, every rock and puddle had a name. They created a most beautiful garden, originally there was one tough sycamore bush! Now there is a croquet lawn, rough tennis court, a most beautiful garden to explore. The views are outstanding. They extended the house too, making the most of its location. while leaving the house totally in keeping with the local tradition. The views are superb. A house challenge - spot the Green Flash of the sunset with a Wee Dram from the sun room, known as an Eclipse.
