I am Christine, your British host; ready to welcome you to our tranquil homestay. Peacemakers homestead is set in the heart of a rural community on the forested lower slopes of Mount Kenya. We offer you a homestay experience with a difference, as you will stay in the grounds of a community resource centre with opportunities to see first hand how Kenyans live.

The space
Peacemakers is a not for profit organisation with all proceeds being reinvested back into the local community. The resource centre was originally established by the international charity - Peacemakers, and is a focal point for the local community. It acts as a wedding venue, prayer house, business centre, farm, training centre and craft centre.

The Homestead – it is situated 45 minutes drive outside of Embu and 4 hours drive outside of Nairobi. Please get in touch if you would like us to arrange an airport/hotel shuttle service for you. The homestead consists of 5 bedrooms, 3 shared bathrooms, a shared living and dining area, a shared kitchen, a shared study with access to computer and printing facilities, an outside dining area, wifi access throughout, satellite tv, free parking, a prayer house, a restaurant and function centre, and viewing access to the farm and crafts centre.

Food & drink – the rate includes breakfast and dinner each day for all guests. The breakfast is continental with cooked breakfast available on request. Dinner will be part of a group meal where you can enjoy freshly grown and cooked local cuisine. The cook will take into account all dietary requirements and preferences. Lunch, alcohol and bottled water is not included in the rate, but can be purchased on site for an additional charge.

During your stay
Myself and the team will be on site 24 hours a day to ensure that your stay is the best it can possibly be.

Neighbourhood highlights

The local area – the homestead is situated in Kathageri (north of Renyeunyes) and is surrounded by banana, mango, coffee and tea plantations. There are plenty of leisurely walks right on our doorstep that will allow you to experience the undulating countryside and grab a glimpse of Mt Kenya on a clear day. Kathageri is a very safe and tight knit community, that has a lot of respect for the Peacemaker mission.
