Juanita's Chalet is a Rustic Retreat located on Hwy 26 yet within walking distance of the Zigzag River. The convenient location on the highway means that there is some road noise, but this also means that you have easy access during snowy months with less risk of being snowed in.

After you brush the fir needles or snow off your boots, come on in and see what we mean by "Modern Rustic Vibe". Tall ceilings, cool gray walls and dark wood toned floors make this a very Hip Chalet. The vintage sled hanging in the living room lets you know this is a fun place to be. The wide-open floor plan makes this an inviting place to spend time, whether it be with friends, family or just you and your sweetheart.

After a day of mountain adventures, relax in the living area on the comfortable furniture. Grab a mug of hot cocoa and read a book or watch a movie. The Chalet is outfitted with 1GB High Speed Internet, television, DVD Player, and DVDs.

When mealtime rolls around, you'll find a tidy and functional kitchen. Knotty pine cabinets, solid granite countertops and all the appliances and kitchen tools you'll need to make this kitchen easy to cook in. In the morning, brew some of the local Mt. Hood Roasters Coffee. It's so good, we try our best to keep the kitchen stocked with their fresh ground coffee. In the evening, look in the hutch and you'll find a blender and a variety of specialty drink glasses to mix up your favorite cocktail.
The Dining Area has a sturdy old wood table with seating for 6. It's the perfect place for dining and card games alike, with plenty of room for everyone.

When the day turns to night, you'll find two cozy bedrooms. One of them has a pillowtop queen bed with a handmade pallet-style headboard. A heavy comforter and soft sheets will keep you warm all night long. The other bedroom has a sturdy twin size bunk bed with comfy bedding. Both bedrooms have closets with plenty of storage.
The other sleeping accommodations are a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. Extra bedding is provided.

The bathroom has a full-size bathtub with shower and has been recently updated and painted a relaxing tone of gray. In the bathroom you'll also find the laundry area which has a washer and dryer for your use.

The Chalet has a large sunny side yard and back yard. The picnic table is perfect for outdoor dining, reading a book, or checking your email. There's also a big old-fashioned rock fire pit. Many evenings have been spent sitting around the fire with good conversation among friends. Firewood can be purchased in the summer at the local market just down the road, but please check local fire restrictions first!

Juanita's Chalet is part of "The Cabins at Belle Lake", a group of 3 cabins. It can be rented with the Tin Roof Cabin, or The Ranger House, which are both located next door.

History of the Chalet:
Juanita's Chalet is located in the forested mountain town of Rhododendron, Oregon. It was built by The Lake Family as a roadside market for Oregon's Centennial Celebration in 1959, part of which honored the Oregon Trail.

It's possibly most well-known by long time locals as "Juanita's Mexico". Juanita and a few others housed their restaurants here.

Another interesting bit of history to ponder while you sit under the trees, is that the Oregon Trail went right through this piece of land. Across the Highway is the Tollgate Campground and the Tollgate Interpretive Area which has access to the Zigzag River and a Replica of the Tollgate on the Oregon Trail/Barlow Road

This cabin is available for short term monthly stays, fully furnished! Of course, nightly rentals are just fine as well!

I moved to Portland in 2010 and lived in several cool neighborhoods before I moved to here, where redwood house is, and fell in love with it.
Our neighborhood has many wonderful restaurants, bars, cafes and unique shops and boutiques. We are walking distance from Hawthorne Blvd which is another cool area to explore. Beautiful Mount Tabor is a 5-minute drive away - I'm there every day with my dog!

Every aspect of this neighborhood inspires me to live Portland life to the fullest. Now I am opening my house for my potential guests to live it too. I am sure you will have priceless memories here.
