Tucked under a 400-year-old oak with its own private lawn, it's a genuinely peaceful country escape where the only sounds are birdsong and distant cattle. With a cosy log burner, fully fitted kitchen, a quirky kids' den reached by a wooden car, and a covered outdoor lounge with a fire pit, it suits families and couples alike.

The bifold doors open straight onto the grass beside a glowing corner log burner, drawing you into an open-plan living space that runs the full length of the lodge. Sink into the leather sofa under cheerful coastal bunting, then follow the warm wood floor past the compact kitchen, which has a gas hob, oven, microwave and fridge tucked along the back wall with copper details and curved live-edge shelves. A snug double sits behind a privacy curtain, framing green fields through a porthole window. Up the open-tread spiral stair you find a king-size bed beneath a curved white ceiling with twin portholes, plus the playful "Cool Kids Only" den, kitted out with beanbags and a push-along wooden car.
Two king beds and a single sofa bed sleep up to 4, with a lower-level shower room holding a basin, WC and shower just off the living area.

You have the whole of Oak Tree Lodge to yourselves, including both bedrooms, the kids' den, kitchen, shower room and your own private garden with the covered outdoor lounge alongside. Self check-in is via a key safe, and full instructions are sent before you arrive. Free on-site parking is available by the gate at the top of the slope, under the tree. Please leave your car there rather than driving onto the lawn, which can rut up or get stuck when wet.
Other things to note
The cabin is a quirky shepherd's hut, not a hotel, so do expect a few rustic touches. Water is mains supplied but waste goes to a septic tank, and gas comes from Calor bottles. There are wooden floors throughout and steps leading up to the front door, plus a spiral staircase to the upper level. The lodge sits beside a working dairy farm, so you may hear cows and occasional farm traffic on the lane, though most of the time it is wonderfully peaceful.
