All Guests also have access to the main terrace, where they can enjoy breakfast, and the wonderful pool. Other things to note
Le Chevalier Noir is the only B and B within the village that sits on a substantial plot of land, offering not only a stunning secluded pool, but also many areas to relax, picnic or just enjoy the spectacular views. Cordes benefits from long languid days of sunshine throughout the summer, so being located on the north side of the village provides a distinct advantage in enjoying the lovely weather while the house remains relatively cool with plenty of shady spaces to relax.

1 Rue du Fourmiguier, 81170 Cordes-sur-Ciel, France

Cordes-sur-Ciel, Occitanie, France

The village of Cordes sur Ciel will delight you and merits a thorough exploration. You should wander the winding cobbled streets, marvel at the ancient covered market and browse the shops, galleries and artisan workshops. The view from the top of the town is spectacular and the view of Cordes from the surrounding countryside is awe inspiring, particularly at dawn when mist often hangs in the surrounding valleys giving the impression that the ancient citadel is floating on the clouds. The phenomenon informs the name of a village that was voted the most popular in France in 2014.

You will want to explore this fascinating and beautiful region that our guests have compared in beauty to the Cotswolds in England and Italy’s Tuscany. We prefer to think of Tuscany as the Tarn of Italy!

Whether your interests are gastronomic, cultural or sporting you will find a wide range of experiences and activities to keep you busy however long you choose to stay. You hosts enjoy nothing more that helping you get the most from your visit and will make themselves available throughout to assist you.

Just a few ideas to wet your appetite:

-Spend a day exploring the Unesco world heritage city of Albi
-Visit more than a dozen outstandingly beautiful villages within an easy drive of Cordes sur Ciel including Penne, Najac, Bruniquel, Monesties, Catstlenau de Mountmiral, Puycelsi, Saint Antonin Noble Val, Rabestans and Lisle sur Tarn.
-Spend a day or more visiting some of the best Chateaux in the Gaillac wine region to taste and stock up on wine for your visit and to take back home.
-Canoe down the Aveyron or the Tarn for a day of excitement and extraordinary beauty.
-The whole area is criss crossed with foot, bike and bridle paths so take a picnic and hike or cycle from the gates or take a tour on horseback
-For a special treat ask your hosts to arrange a hot air ballon ride at dawn over Cordes sur Ciel. Advanced booking of this activity is always necessary
-Book a fishing safari on the river Tarn where some of the world’s largest catfish have been caught
-Visit one of the many summer festivals, antique fairs or flea markets
-Free Tennis is available to guests within ten minutes walk of Le Chevalier Noir
