This is where you want to be. On Harlem’s Gold Coast near NYC’s newest bustling restaurant row. Walk to Central Park in under five minutes, to Columbia University in under fifteen. One short block to B and C subway. Close to 2 and 3. Easy walk to M 60 bus to LaGuardia.
You'll have your own bedroom and your own bathroom, towels and toiletries, robe, breakfast foods. I want you to be comfortable, so if there's something you need and don't see, ask!
Stylish apartment in a new-ish elevator condo in an area known as Harlem's Gold Coast. The neighborhood is a mix of historic brownstones and recent luxury buildings (like mine). It's chock-a-block with upscale restaurants and cafes and economy eating options, too.
Run to Central Park (five blocks away). Walk to The Apollo for Amateur Night (10 blocks away). Stroll three avenues over to visit St. John the Divine, the country's largest gothic cathedral. Columbia University is right on the other side of Morningside Park which has a lovely duck pond and waterfall.
The queen bed in the guest room can sleep two. Curtains are light-blocking and you can control your own air/heat.
Apple TV with Netflix in the bedroom.
Guests will have a bedroom with both an east and a north-facing window, their own bathroom right outside their bedroom, a shelf of their own in the refrigerator. Ingredients for breakfast (cereal, milk, eggs, coffee and tea, toast, butter, jam) provided the first day, coffee and tea every day.
The living room (with cable tv) is available for lounging and the dining room/library is available for eating, reading, or looking out the stained glass window.
Interaction with guests
I am a writer and often work from home. Happy to make suggestions, give directions, and give you your space! I prefer guests who plan to be out and about in the city.
Respect the house, respect the neighbors. No: illegal activity; loud noise; parties; pets; smoking; inviting strangers to visit you at my house.
No outside shoes inside. Flip-flops and slippers are fine.
You are welcome to cook for yourself so long as you clean everything up after.
I want my guests to feel as if they are staying at the home of a friend of a friend -- someone who'll be helpful, but not too attached.
I am a writer and am mostly home during the day. I like anything live - music, dance, theatre, stand-up. I like biking, and what I call urban hiking. I love London!
I also love New York. Whenever I go away, I'm always thrilled to get home and ride in the back of a yellow cab over the Triboro Bridge back into Manhattan, especially with sunrise shining off the glass buildings. I want guests to love my city too.
