Neighbourhood highlights

Old Hunstanton is one of a few exceptions along the North Norfolk coast in that you can access the beach without having to trek over the saltmarshes to get there! The vast sand dunes and pretty beach huts make this an ideal family retreat. You'll find the start of the Norfolk Coast Path, the famous links golf course circumvented by colourful beach huts and a popular beach cafe that serves good food. With the RSPB Titchwell nature reserve just a few miles away and the coastal path in easy reach, this is a great place to start your tour of North Norfolk.

Food-lovers are perfectly located to sample the culinary delights the county is famed for. Book in for an outstanding fine dining experience at the supremely charming The Gin Trap Inn in Ringstead, the quaint and impressive Michelin starred restaurant The Neptune in Old Hunstanton, and The Old Bank bistro in Snettisham, or, for a lighter bite and delicious coffee, head to The Old Store, also in Snettisham.

As the only west-facing resort on the east coast of Britain, neighbouring Hunstanton is known for stunning sunsets and impressive striped cliffs of carrstone to the north of the town. Affectionately referred to by locals, as Sunny Hunny, Hunstanton is a traditional Victorian seaside resort boasting all the family attractions you would expect to enjoy on a great British family holiday. The town comprises of a vivid plethora of ice cream parlours, delis, fish 'n' chip shops, sweet shops, bowling alley, crazy golf, arcades, water sport facilities, pier, funfair and Sea Life Centre, plus the wonderful Princess Theatre hosts a summer season and Christmas pantomime. Board The Wash Monster and head out to sea to see the seals, learn to paddleboard or kayak at Hunstanton Watersports Centre; swim in the warm waters; or explore the rock pools with a bucket and fishing net.

For the grown-ups head to trendy Burnham Market where you can browse the independent shops and drink coffee in the numerous cafe's and deli's. Head to Drove Orchards just up the road in Thornham to buy fresh fish and sample some of the best fish and chips around at Eric's. Or, if you want to be healthier, sample Drove's home-pressed apple juice, and pick fruit from the fruit farm when in season.

For a bit of history, head to Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall, Blickling Estate, or HM The King's residence at Sandringham.
