The widest and cleanest beaches in Zeeland!
For 3 years in a row, the beaches of the Zeeland coast have been the cleanest in the Netherlands. Nieuwvliet has the widest beaches. So wider than the beaches of Cadzand or Breskens.
From the house you can reach the sea via two dune crossings. A beach pavilion with terrace can be found at both dune crossings, namely De Strandganger and de Buchanier. The two beach pavilions are open year-round (in November and early December and January, February both beach pavilions are closed for three weeks, but never open simultaneously and often only on weekends).
In the summer season St. Pierre opened a beach guard and first aid post and as soon as the weather is nice the beach shop opens its doors.
Your own free beach cabin!
As a service for our guests, we rent our own beach cabins at the Nieuwvliet booth every year. So you'll be walking right there. It saves you 50 euros per week and a lot of hassle.
The beach cabin also contains 2 sunbeds, beach chairs, a windscreen, children's beach chairs, beach toys etc.
The beach cabin will be installed in mid-May and demolished around mid-September.
Our cabins (Nos 96, 101 and 103) are located at the Cow Lost Pole (all lost poles have an image from Dick Bruna's Miffy series).
Although everyone likes to have nice weather, the beach is beautiful in all seasons. Blow out on the beach, build beautiful castles or look for shells.
But Nieuwvliet offers more, here you can also search for fossil shark teeth. Especially at the radar tower, which you can see from "our" beach, many are found. Especially after the floods, they are not to be missed. In our storage room we have 2 special shark tooth strainers.

Nature area "Het Zwin" from Nieuwvliet to the Belgian Border
The Zwin used to be a richly branched waterway that divided West Zeeland's Flanders and made Bruges accessible from the sea. In the 14th and 15th centuries the channel system became shallower and later inviolable. The mouth of the channel remained open, but was completely enclosed on the land side. The outer dike area consists of dunes and barracks. In the summer months the lamb's ear blooms and the landscape has a purple glow. It is an important bird breeding area. The visitor centre in Retranchement playfully displays the different Zwinlandscapes, helps in the search for fossil shark teeth and shows Het Zwin at night. Excursions are organised from the centre. There is also a marked cycling route of 39 km (starting from NIeuwvliet) that leads along the nature reserves and the historic fortified towns of Sluis and Retranchement.
Nature reserve "Braakman"
In 1375 a storm flood created De Braakman and flooded villages such as Oud-IJzendijke, Moerkerke and Peerboom. In 1952 the Braakman was closed with a 2.7 km long dam. As a result, Zeeuws Flanders was spared at the Watersnoodramp in 1953. Much of the creek was reclaimed and now consists of agricultural land and forests; a small part remained water (fallow creek). Walks have been made through the woods.
