The space

We rent out a spacious room for 2 or 3 people in a typical Florentine building that was a convent in the 16th century. The appartment is very artsy but basic, simply bathrooms, simply furniture in the rooms but there’s everything you need.
The house is in the historic centre, in the quarter of the Santa Croce church, only about 5 minutes walking distance from the Duomo and 15 minutes from the SMN station. You can do easily all the sightseeing by walking, it will never takes you more that 20 minutes to get from one point to another. The neighbourhood is safe also at night, Florence isn't a dangerous town.
Total of 6 bed rooms, 3 bathrooms, patio. Internet wi-fi.
The room is furnished with two single beds (80x190cm) that are put together, 2 bed tables, closet, chair and desk, there's a basin in the room.
The bathroom is basic but clean and is to share with us or other airbnb guests, it has a shower, toilet, bidet and basin. Shampoo, soap, towels, hairdryer and bed linen are included in the price. It’s not possible to use the kitchen, you can use the fridge and water boiler, but no cooking or eating in the kitchen. I provide a very good list with restaurants, bars and cafes where you can have good local food, not touristic, not expensive.
Our flat is ideal for traveler who want to share the accommodation with people who know the city and can give a lot suggestions what to see, where to have dinner, where to go do shopping, etc.!
I have 2 lovely cats so if you don't like animals or are allergic please don't book with us! We are smoking in the kitchen but keep the window nearly always open.
I speak English, German and Italian! I don't think that it's necessary to say, but just in case: We are absolutely gay friendly!
Please note that the city of Florence requests every tourist to pay a city tax of €2.50 per person and day for a maximum of 7 nights, payable in cash at the check in.
I do Airbnb from 2012 and unfortunately last year I made a lot of bad experience with people that are used to stay in hotels and were complaining about things that are clearly stated in the description. We offering the rooms for very little money and you won’t not even find a hostel in the historic centre that is so cheap so don’t expect any luxury. I expect people to read carefully the description of the ad and to be aware that they are not going to stay in a hotel with any service. This house is not adapted for children or elder people. I feel free to decline requests that I don’t feel comfortable with. Thanks for understanding, for further information please don’t hesitate asking!

Guest access

bathroom, fridge, water boiler, for smoking you can use the pation (only from 8am to 10pm, no loud talking, no cell phone use, otherwise neighbours are complaining)

Interaction with guests

I will give you a list with restaurants, bars and markets in this area. For any information you can ask me, no problem!
We have alternating exhibitions of local artists long the hallways, if you are interesting in buying a painting please ask me.

Other things to note

Please read carefully the description before booking. Check in has to be made on agreement between 12pm and 7pm. Check in after 7pm cost an extra fee of €20. No check in after 11pm.
From May to September: from Monday to Friday I accept only bookings for at least 2 nights, on weekends only for 3 nights from Friday to Monday (or longer) because I can't do check ins at the weekend. Bookings for one day I will accept only if I have a day left between other bookings.
The city of Florence requests every tourist to pay a city tax of €2.50 per person and per day for a maximum of 7 nights, payable in cash at the check in.
Please take note that you can't use the kitchen, it is our private space (you can put stuff in the fridge and use the water boiler but cooking or eating there is not possible).
The bathroom is to share with another room (we have 3 bathrooms for 6 rooms).
I have 2 lovely cats and we are smokers but keep our house very clean.
As you know from movies Italians are very vivid people so sometimes you can hear noise from my neighbors please be aware that you are booking a room in a house where people actually live so don’t expect to stay in silence as in the 4 Seasons ;) We don’t have any windows that are towards the streets so that is a big plus point but as I said, you will stay in a real Italian house and the centre of Florence is very crowded and chaotic also because of all the tourists.

Great stay! Diane was super friendly and helpful. The room was as we expected and in a great location! No surprises during our visit and i would definitely recommend it, very good value for money. Slightly noisy neighbours but that's typically italian i believe. Very sweet cats :) but the rooms were fine for allergies, im allergic and had no problems as the cats dont go in the rooms

This Airbnb was extremely central and in a great neighborhood. All travel necessities are provided. Diane provided us with information and travel tips for the city. Diane was very professional, but not too friendly as a host. She did not respond to a few of our inquiries over messages, however messaged us when she needed the city tax money. Her friends were over one night and were loud past quiet hours (midnight). Would recommend if looking for just a place to stay in the center, but not great for a cultural experience.

The location of this flat is what really makes it amazing!!! Diane is very kind and gave us towels, linens etc. Not being able to use the kitchen was a bit disappointing but that is listed so we couldn't complain! There were hundreds of things to do in walking distance and Diane gave us directions and her best recommendations! Arriving was a little confusing. Being from out of the country we could not contact Diane because we had no wifi or cell service, we thought she would be waiting outside the building, as other Airbnb hosts have done in my past experiences, and even though we rang several times she still did not hear it. Other than that or stay was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more.

Loved our stay here - very close to the centre and easy to find. Apartment had lots of character. Lots of helpful info when you arrive on a notice board.

A tidy, reasonably central room. A little noisy, but a convenient place for a couple of days in Florence. Diane was friendly and left us useful information about things to do in Florence.
