Welcome to the historic area of Lisbon! An apartment, on the ground floor, refurbished in 2014, with independent entrance via a patio. Central area with many accesses.

The apartment is located in the heart of Mouraria, one of Lisbon's most emblematic neighborhoods due to its history and multiculturalism.

The apartment with an area of about 40m2, fully furnished, comprises a bedroom with double bed, living room with sofa bed, WC with shower, fully equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, magic wand, iron, ironing board. The accessibilities are the strong point of the Mouraria neighborhood since we are only 15 minutes by taxi from the airport, and a few minutes walk from the bus stop, the Martim Moniz subway station, the famous tram 28, taxis and Rossio train station that can take you to Sintra and Cascais.

In the neighborhood of Mouraria you will find many restaurants, traditional shops, supermarkets, Fado houses, cafes and pharmacies.
Once we are in the heart of the city you can walk through the narrow streets and discover the main attractions of the city that are just around the corner such as Castelo de São Jorge, Rossio Square, Terreiro do Paço, Baixa-Chiado, Bairro Alto, Alfama (...) and to know and feel the unique way of life of Lisbon.

Where you’ll be

Lisbon, Portugal

Bairro da Mouraria was the place where the Moors were allowed to live after the great conquest of Lisbon by King D. Afonso Henriques in 1147, before being expelled along with the Jews in 1497. Little survived from this period except a few vestiges of the medieval wall Curiously, the neighborhood of Mouraria remains the most multiethnic of the city. Most of the foreign population comes from Bangladesh, followed by immigrants from China, India, Pakistan and Mozambique.

It is, nevertheless, one of the most authentic neighborhoods in Lisbon, where the treatment by "you" of the shopkeepers, neighbors, and where the little trains of the little ones make us travel to times where childhood was just that.

Known as the birthplace of Fado. It was here, in 1800, that the first great fadista lived, the legendary Severa who fell in love with an earl, taking the music of the people to the aristocracy. Life in Mouraria has always been marked by the sound of guitars, taverns, brothels, glasses of wine among friends and of course Fado! This very particular identity has joined others and today, rising from the Mouraria Shopping Center, there is Cape Verdean music, Indian flavors, Brazilian rhythms, Pakistani flavors, Mozambican dishes.

Over time the neighborhood was degrading until the beginning of major renovations in 2009 that put the Mouraria back on the map. The neighborhood now attracts us by its movement, the mini "Chinatown", the kiosks in the Martim Moniz Square that serve meals from all over the world, as well as the Plaza del Intendente that hides one of the most beautiful tile facades in the city.

Another hidden treasure is the interior of the old "School of the Orphan Boys", in Rua da Mouraria, with a 1700-tile covered staircase that retract passages from the Old and New Testaments.

It is also worth taking a look at the medieval house (one of the oldest in Lisbon), in Largo da Achada behind the Church of St. Kitts, with Gothic doors and windows.
