Some things to note before booking:
>> Please be aware that our property is a quirky old beach house and sometimes has quirky old beach house problems (sometimes the gas bottles need to be changed, the fuse may trip, and random things may break). We are a tiny family business and we do our very best to quickly solve any issues that may arise, but prospective guests should be fully aware that our apartments are not newly built, do not have fancy stainless steel kitchens or the latest décor. If you would like a new apartment, there are plenty of wonderful options in and around Lagos that you will likely enjoy more than staying with us. If, however, you enjoy cozy old houses with stunning ocean views and plenty of character (and possibly a resident spider or two) then do consider booking with us — we will welcome you with open arms.

This apartment has a large patio right in front of the sea and is perfect for a family with children or a group of friends. You can walk down to the beach in a minute or just sit back and marvel at the view. The apartment is located at Dona Ana beach - one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve - and only a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from downtown Lagos.

The patio is enclosed by low walls and has a large lockable gate, making it particularly safe for children to play in. There is also a rose garden and a cactus garden towards the side of the apartment. The large outdoor area is perfect also for grilling food and inviting friends over to dinner with a stunning view of the sea.

The apartment is part of a larger beachfront property which has been in our family for the past 50+ years, having originally started as a small fisherman's cottage. We currently also rent the upstairs apartment which is a cozy one-bedroom apartment with a terrace and a spectacular view of the sea. Both apartments have separate entrances and parking areas.

The apartment consists of two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two single beds), two bathrooms, living-room with dining room area, and kitchen. It provides comfortable living for four adults and we can also provide a baby cot if needed. The apartment comes fully equipped with all amenities: fridge-freezer, stove-top oven, dishwasher, washing machine (no dryer), microwave oven, coffee-maker, toaster and electric water boiler. Rental includes linens, duvets and bath towels for four people (we may be able to provide additional sets upon request).

Also included:
- parking for one car at the front of the property
- WiFi internet
- outdoor tables + chairs
- coal grill

CASATRIGOSO: ROLL OUT OF BED AND ONTO THE BEACH Our apartments are located at the stunning Dona Ana beach in Lagos, Portugal. Decoration is simple yet cozy, providing guests with a warm and homey experience. All our apartments are fully equipped and include parking spaces. CasaTrigoso has a website which you can search the internet for if you like, though unfortunately we're not allowed to link it here. However, we like Airbnb and want to adhere to site policies, so if you do find us elsewhere on the internet, go ahead and click around the site for lots more information on Lagos and the house, but then come back to Airbnb and book through here. Thanks! >> first things first: are we right for each other? Please be aware that our property is a quirky old beach house and sometimes has quirky old beach house problems (sometimes the gas bottles need to be changed, the fuse may trip, and random things may break). We are a tiny mother-daughter business and we do our very best to quickly solve any issues that may arise, but prospective guests should be fully aware that our apartments are not newly built, do not have fancy stainless steel kitchens or the latest décor. If you would like a new apartment, there are plenty of wonderful options in and around Lagos that you will likely enjoy more than staying with us. If, however, you enjoy cozy old houses with stunning ocean views and plenty of character (and possibly a resident spider or two) then do consider booking with us — we will welcome you with open arms. >> from beginnings to business CasaTrigoso is a very small family business operation that started out rather haphazardly in lagos in May 2010 over some glasses of wine. Faced with the ever-increasing urgency of renovation work on our family holiday home of over 60+ years, and the frightening amount of money necessary to complete it, we decided to try our hand at renting out two holiday apartments in the house. So we enlisted the help of family and friends for some basic DIY renovation, and after multiple trips to IKEA, meetings with local contractors, hours on the internet setting up our ads, we sat back and waited for bookings. What started off as a spontaneous experiment turned into - dare we say it? - an actual business. So far we've hosted hundreds of guests and have learned (we hope!) much about vacation rentals as well as the kind of accommodation we're eager to provide. We like to think our apartments are cozy and homey, and want guests to feel at home as much as possible. The apartments are very dear to us and hold many memories, and we'd love for guests to care for them as much as we do, and perhaps to make some memories of their own. >> division of labour The grandmother (Maria) is in charge of things ‘on the ground’ - making sure everything runs smoothly when guests arrive, arranging the cleaning, counting bed linens, etc. - the granddaughter (Júlia, her Airbnb profile is here - http://www.airbnb.com/users/show/61915) is more on the ‘backoffice’ side of things - making sure emails are replied to, the availability calendar is up-to-date, etc. We are helped locally by many people, but mostly Emília who helps run the place and keeps everything going smoothly. >> the house and Senhor Trigoso The house dates back from the 1930s when Senhor Zé Trigoso (father and grandfather) decided he wanted to move his family from Lisbon to Lagos which, at that time, was very far away from what Lisbonites would consider the civilised world. Not content with being far from the capital, Senhor Trigoso chose to buy a plot of land away from what was then the town of Lagos, in a largely uninhabited area by Praia da Dona Ana. Those were the days of long donkey-rides into town, fishermen coming to the house to sell their daily catch, and the quiet tranquility of being the only house on Dona Ana beach. Over the years, the town grew and the roads were paved, and Praia da Dona Ana became a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Senhor Trigoso also renovated and enlarged the house to fit the ever-growing family, as well as the many friends who would come to stay. In 1965, he built what we are now renting as the two-bedroom apartment, and after he became a widower in 1969, he built a small apartment for himself and that's what we now rent out as the one-bedroom apartment. He loved Lagos, Praia da Dona Ana, and he loved the house. Senhor Trigoso died in 1998, and CasaTrigoso is very much our tribute to him and our way of continuing to give life to the house he so enjoyed.
