This route is an art project that aims to bring together nature and art, featuring beautiful work from artists all over the world on a 5 hour leisurely hiking route.
At the bottom of the valley, on the slopes are the best vineyards and olive trees of Mediterranean influence.
- Canoeing on the River Chassezac (18 km) or in Gorges de l’Ardèche (25 km)

This house is spacious, even better than the pictures, and in the most beautiful location. The only thing which spoils the peace are a few daily jet practice flights overhead daily, not really a problem for us but our dogs were spooked by them! It really is remote in terms of local facilities, just be aware of this and happy to spend a lot of time based at the house or driving twisty mountain roads to explore the area. Lovely walks locally, including a mule track to Saint Melany and one down to the river below the house, ending at a magical bridge, a spot straight out of Lord of the Rings, unchanged for centuries. Rene keeps the lovely pool spotlessly clean, appearing very early in the morning and early evening, always discrete unless you want to chat, difficult for us as our French isn't up to much and he speaks no English, but he's friendly and very helpful. In September we could help ourselves to figs, peaches, raspberries, tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines and herbs from the garden. On cooler evenings we lit a fire in the grand fireplace in the living room - this would be a lovely place to come in the colder months too!

The house was amazing, with a stunning view out from the pool. There was great walking and mountain biking, and the scenery was lovely. The only downside we could find was that it was a long way from shops for doing the food shopping!

Beautiful house with the most stunning views imaginable. The house was clean and had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. The pool is big and well maintained; the gardener was extremely nice and gifted baskets of fruit & vegetables throughout our stay, he also installed a pool alarm as we had a number of young children staying. the local area is sparsely populated with lots of interesting trails to walk along. The owner provided plenty of information about the local area and check-in and check-out was well organised. Highly recommend having a holiday here!!!!

Enchanting location with a very beautiful house. Can't recommend enough, a stunning experience.

Gwen's place is absolutely amazing and a perfect vacation villa! Communication was a breeze and as other reviews note, the gardener Rene was at the property daily and was very friendly and discrete. The house itself had everything we needed, but it was the view of the mountains that really stole the show. Photos don't do this justice as you truly feel at the edge of the world in complete tranquility and privacy. Such a wonderful Airbnb experience! Top tip for travellers - if you plan to do a big food shop on route, ensure you arrive before midday on Sunday supermarkets and stores are closed in the afternoon. Might save you a trip down the mountain! We can't wait to book again in the future :)

Surrounded by mountains and tranquility all around, Gwen's place is a true haven in the Cevennes. It may seem to be a bit far from civilization for some but that's what makes Gwen's place so special and the perfect place to disconnect (there is wifi which works just fine) and enjoy the peace and quiet that there area has to offer. There are plenty of nearby hikes such as the Chemin des Lauzes and many others further out. Or the perfect place to just watch the sunset or sit underneath the stars without any light pollution! We barbecued our meals out under the veranda by the pool which unfortunately we did not get a chance to use due to the weather. It's worth mentioning that in the cooler months the main house is quite cool however our room in the other building was comfortable with the electric heater. Rene, the caretaker, is charming, very accommodating and more than efficient who made sure that we arrived safely and had everything we needed. We're very much looking forward to our next visit!
