North Walls Kirk, situated on the picturesque island of Hoy, has been lovingly renovated to provide an extensive and unique self-catering property. Work has been done with minimum conflict to its original purpose and with the retention of many of the original features. The spectacular gothic arched windows mean that the space is bathed in light of a particular quality giving an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Furnishings have been selected to compliment this unique style and environment.

The space
The décor and layout within the kirk is unusual and quirky, with an elevated gallery and whimsical features such as the "hidden" shower room. Bedrooms are large and individually styled. Despite its size the kirk is a lovely warm space with a variety of heating systems which compliment each other, ensuring guests are always cosy, no matter how wild things might be outside. The garden area around the building is large and supports small trees, bushes and shrubs providing a variety of areas to relax outside.

Hoy is a special island, with spectacular hill and cliff scenery. It is well served with 3 hotels/bars, several cafes and a shop with off-licence and petrol. The local halls host regular events. There is a car ferry which sails several times per day as well as a foot passenger ferry from the north end of the island. The kirk is situated close to all amenities and alongside the island's beautiful theatre which thrives in a well established musical and arts based community.

During your stay

I am contactable by telephone, email and social media and aim to be fully responsive to guests' requirements. We have a caretaker on the island and are connected with tradesmen/kinds of "useful" people. This means we can fulfil a wide variety of requests. Please don't hesitate to ask - if we can do it, we'll find a way!
