The Grey Goat was built about 1770. In 1900 it was converted into a public house Ye Old Grey Goat Inn which was run by my wife's great uncle. The Inn ceased trading in 2012 and is now our home.
The Grey Goat is in the centre of Town.
St Helens street is in one of the oldest parts of the market town convenient for the town centre shops, coffee shops, restaurants, public houses and two parks which both offer riverside walks

The space
The Grey Goat had an outbuilding which was originally used as a Bake House. When the Grey Goat was converted into a public house ,Ye Old Grey Goat Inn, it became the Beer shed.
The Beer shed was recently converted into a self contained modern ground floor studio flat with a kitchen, bathroom and its own private entrance and access to St Helens Street.
The flat is located in the Conservation Area of Cockermouth, which is the oldest settlement in this Georgian market town and the property is Grade II listed.

Cockermouth and the Lakes are very special to me, because my wife was born in Cockermouth and it reminds me of the scenery, mountains and walks I had in Cape Town South Africa where I was born. My wife and I bought the Grey Goat Cottage a few years ago as a holiday home to escape from the stress and pollution in London and enjoy the clean fresh air, walking the fells plus the quality of life which Cockermouth has to offer. Cockermouth has a good variety of pubs and restaurants but is not as busy as Keswick which allows me and my family to relax, walk the fells and cycle and re charge our batteries before returning to the fast pace of city life. My family feels the Grey Goat Cottage would provide affordable holiday self catering accommodation to people who would want a break from living in large cities to reflect on life, enjoy good food, pubs walking and cycling which Cockermouth has to offer.
