Accessed via quiet country lanes, yet only a short drive from the historic towns of Pembroke and Tenby, West Barn is a luxury and spacious split-level barn conversion, nestling in a sheltered hamlet among the rolling hills of the Pembrokeshire National Park just a short walk from the coastal path, dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches.

The space
Entering the traditional, whitewashed barn from the ample parking area, you will be greeted by a large, stylish fully-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances, slate floor and high beamed ceiling. A farmhouse table is perfect for family meals. Moving through to the bright, open plan lounge, passing a downstairs toilet and double bedroom on the way, both ideal for the mobility impaired, the main seating area is drenched in natural light from large French doors and traditional windows as well as two Velux windows. With comfortable sofas, antique furniture and warm oak floors, guests can relax with a selection of books and DVDs, watch the large screen TV with Satellite and Freeview, or just gaze out at the garden watching farm animals grazing in the fields beyond.
The sense of space and light continues as you access the next level (six steps) on which will be found the cool, luxury bathroom with wood panelling, designer bath, slate floor and wet room with invigorating power shower which positively encourages indulgence and relaxation. Beyond, is the peaceful second bedroom whose considerable size amply accommodates twin four-poster beds. This level is completed by a utility room with central heating boiler and washing machine.
Up a few more steps reveals the third bedroom containing a king and single bed making it ideal as a family room. All three bedrooms are tastefully colour-coordinated and have warm, solid oak floors, dressing tables and TVs. Two of the bedrooms have sizeable wardrobes.
Outside
A walk outside reveals a tranquil and sheltered south-facing patio for your exclusive use, including charcoal barbecue, leading to large lawn and wider space with several features provided by our friendly and hospitable neighbours for the more energetic: swings, slides, goals and even a rope swing! Please note that the zip wires mentioned in some reviews are no longer available and the wider area of open plan garden with its activities is kindly provided by, and shared with, our neighbour/housekeeper.
The patio and garden is overlooked by a completely unique tower ("The Folly") which is all yours to use, offering commanding views across the hamlet and fields beyond. Whether it's to read, eat, keep an eye on the children playing or enjoy an evening drink, this unusual feature makes a stay at West Barn truly unforgettable.
Beyond the garden is a woodland walk with picnic area and, eventually, the sea, which can be reached in 10-15 minutes as a muddy adventure via the fields or a more civilised walk along the country lanes. The clifftop views are truly breath taking and the more adventurous can hike down to the beach via several steep paths. Alternatively, you can take a five-minute drive to the beach car park!
The whole hamlet comprises just half a dozen houses and the sound of a passing car is sufficiently rare as to make the whole area completely safe for children and adults to play and explore.
***If you're looking for true isolation this year, you will find it here. You could remain in the cottage and grounds for your entire stay and see no other people - just the horses and sheep in the fields! Or you could roam the local lanes to the cliff path and deserted beaches and coves. With a flexible cancellation policy, this could be the ideal alterative to foreign travel this summer***
Please contact me before you book if you wish to bring a dog. One well-behaved dog is welcome, subject to certain conditions. Failure to disclose pets or to comply with the conditions may forfeit your damages deposit.
