A very sunny loft in a quiet garden, with a lot of vintage furnitures. A very exclusive accommodation for your stay in Arles.

The space

It's a loft, BUT there's also two "normal" rooms : An office and a bedroom, what means that you can sleep quietly even if somebody else is awake in the open space or in the kitchen.

Guest access

Your car or your motorbike can be safe parked in the garden.
Then, we can loan bikes if you need it.
There's a bakery just at the corner of the street (300m).

Interaction with guests

We live just upstairs, so we can help you or answer any question if you need it.
That said, we are really discrete and you will use the loft and the garden as if you were alone

Other things to note

If you are 3 persons, there's one room with a 140 cm bed; for the third person, a single bed can be installed in the loft.

Daniel and his partner were very welcoming of myself and my friend to Arles. He collected us from the train station, took us on a bicycle tour of the city (and loaned us the bikes for the week which was very useful), and there was even a delicious salad, drinks and fruit in the fridge. The Loft Maurin is situated on a quiet road, has a lovely shady garden, is spacious and filled with very interesting objects and books. Daniel went away for the week we were there but came back and drove us back to the station to catch our train when we left. Had my French been better I am sure I would have enjoyed some good conversations with him and his partner as they were an interesting couple. I highly recommend The Loft Maurin and would love to return to it - and the lovely city of Arles - again.

The loft Maurin is a beautiful place to stay in Arles. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful and a very warm welcome is waiting for you. The rooms are big, the house unique and there is a refreshing garden that is the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning. A bit of a walk to downtown, so be ready if your intention is to discover the city or to hang around les Rencontres Festival.

The hosts are very friendly and hospitable; this was apparent even before I arrived with Francine outside waving to me as I turned the corner of the road (I was coming via bicycle, and this is a family of avid cyclists). We were especially grateful that they responded so quickly to our booking request and responded within the hour to any query we made throughout our stay. Daniel is extremely knowledgeable as one would expect from a professor and researcher, and eager to provide his experience of what Arles has to offer -which bakery and patisseries are the best, where to eat, recommendations for specific shops as well sharing his considerable knowledge of the history, architecture and art of the area. Given it’s Arles, the city of Augustus and Van Gogh, that’s saying a lot. He even drew for us an itinerary with sites of interest, supplemented by many books, brochures and guides. As for the place itself, it has everything a family needs- Wi-Fi (important to me especially as a number of places we previously stayed at either didn’t provide it or it was so slow as to be almost useless), laundry machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, microwave… It’s located near the town centre- a 15 minute walk took us to the amphitheatre. However, it has its own parking place- I can’t stress how important this is as my wife had to search for ages to find parking spots and, when one does find one, they tend to be so cramped as to make getting in and out extremely stressful. Forget about it during market days Wednesday and Saturday. One should be warned however that it requires considerable practice to get in and out given the narrowness of the road, however. The place (I wouldn’t call it a “loft” exactly) is clean, well-stocked with books and provisions and tastefully decorated with some lovely touches that the photos don’t really show. We’d have no hesitation to come back again.
