A comfortable and characterful cottage, close to Islay's most fabulous beaches

The space
On the edge of the small cluster of houses nestled on a low ridge with beautiful west-facing views over Loch Gorm to Islay's atlantic coast, Drumlanrig is an 1850s stone-built cottage providing spacious self catering holiday accommodation for up to 6 people.
The location is quiet and private without being isolated.

With two double and two single bedrooms, and two bathrooms, Drumlanrig accommodates up to six people in comfort.

The living spaces feature beamed ceilings, a farmhouse style kitchen and a comfortable lounge with a log-burning stove.  A glazed porch, with seating, leads to a secluded terrace with outdoor seating and table.  All have beautiful, uninterrupted views south and west over Loch Gorm towards Saligo Bay and Kilchoman; the sunsets are stunning.

There's an  upstairs playroom with cupboards full of toys and games and plenty of space for running around in the fenced garden to the south and west of the house.

The self catering facilities include: a range-style cooker with gas oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, high chair, microwave, toaster, kettle and teapot.

The water comes from the deep underground well shared with our neighbours;  purified with  UV rather than chlorine, it is crystal clear and delicious.

With oil-fired central heating and double glazing, the house is very warm, but the wood-burning stove adds a cosy ambience on cool evenings.  The log shed is well stocked.

The television has satellite freeview channels and a DVD player.   A bluetooth receiver allows you to play your own music from your phones or tablets.  You'll find a selection of books about Islay and there are board games,  toys and books for children.               There is no landline; wifi is via a mobile-to-wifi hub and speeds are reasonable but not necessarily what you'd expect in a UK city.

There is a bathroom with over-bath shower and a small en suite shower room; each has a toilet.

Two of the bedrooms - the ensuite double bedroom and a single bedroom - are downstairs, but with small steps to the en suite bedroom and also to the family bathroom.  Upstairs, the double bedroom, single bedroom and playroom have 'coombed' ceilings, so they are partly sloping and have velux windows.

Drumlanrig shares a driveway, parking and turning space with a small neighbouring cottage; there is room for you to park two cars here.   The house is reached via a stony track (pictured) shared by the seven other houses that comprise Carnduncan.

Guest access
You will have the whole house and garden to yourself. A large shed provides plenty of space for bicycles, motorbikes and sporting equipment.
