Vilcabamba is considered a jewel in the crown of the Southern Andean mountain range of Ecuador, about 5° south of the equator. The climate is commonly referred to as “eternal spring”, with both a dry and wet season, though temperatures are always moderate. Long known also as the “Valley of Longevity”, and the “playground of the Incas”, where Incan royalty would go for rejuvenating retreats. This theme carries forward to present times, as it's healthy environment energetically supports self development and spiritual awakening.

The Vilcabamba town center is only a 20 minute walk or $2 taxi, and is a social center for many travelers. One can find international cuisine along with local fare, and local markets of tropical fruits and vegetables. Vilcabamba is nestled on the edge of Podocarpus National Park, where stunning vistas, wilderness hiking and horseback trail riding adventures await.

Cancion del Corazón Eternaculture Centre is a distinctive facility whose design and purpose combines beauty, function, and conscious living. Cancion del Corazón translates to “song of the heart”, as our quest for human evolution arises from listening and expressing our heart's calling. We have cultivated this 3 acre property to be a living demonstration of Eternaculture, which is the weaving together of permaculture principles with abiding spiritual awareness, and intentional living. Among the principles embedded in its philosophy are “my life is my spiritual practice” , and “I am in interdependence with both the natural world and the spiritual realms”.

The centre is entering its 6th year of development; the food forests and garden plantings are gradually evolving into a self-sustainable system, the solar energy systems, water systems, human habitation facilities are in place, and consciousness and community development work is well underway.

Sigh! It was so hard to leave this beautiful space. Such a lush landscape, lovely people, yummy food, and nature galore. Phil and Suzanne were so welcoming, with lots of great information and suggestions. The best part was the educational tour of their property. So much useful and new information all included in the stay. So grateful for this lovely place and such wonderful hosts.

Our week-long stay in the cozy cabins with outdoor covered cocina on Suzanne and Phil's gorgeous permaculture farm was a unique highlight of our Ecuador trip. The setting is breathtaking -- snug in the mountains and an easy 30-minute walk (or five-minute taxi ride) into town. It was fascinating to explore their gardens and learn about how they've honored and cultivated the land over the years with expert love and devotion. They are truly lovely and caring people who have created a bountiful eco-paradise you won't want to leave.

Highly recommended for those looking for something different. Phil and Suzanne were excellent hosts, going above and beyond to show us around, make us feel at home, and answer all our questions about permaculture and off the grid living. It's located not far from town, a quick $2.50 taxi or 20-30 minutes walk to town. Comfy bed, reliable internet, and a well equipped kitchen were appreciated! We would love to come back and stay longer!

Because it's hard to explain how very happy we were to stay with Suzanne and Phil we'll just say: We booked for one week but ended up staying almost 2! We enjoyed staying in this sweet cabin surrounded by a beautiful permaculture garden and we loved talking to our wonderful hosts who have a lot of knowledge to learn from! We went on some beautiful hikes around the area but also spent a lot of time in the hammock in front of the cabin until we learnt that Suzanne and Phil also offer meal services (with all fresh produce from their garden) and lovely yoga classes.. We really didn't wanna leave - so much good energy and Phil&Suzanne are truly lovely and wonderful human beings! Thank you so much for everything!

This is an interesting stay in a cozy, comfortable one bedroom cabin on a permaculture farm in the hills above Vilcabamba. The panoramic view, the clean air and the pure, structured water are fantastic! Breakfast is not included. We made our own in the outdoor kitchen that we shared with another guest. At night, you need a flashlight to use either of the 2 bathrooms that are not attached to the cabin. A trip to the town of Vilcabamba, by taxi, costs $2.50, each way. Both hosts are very personable, but, also, very busy, although we did enjoy a very informative farm tour when one of our hosts spent over an hour with us showing us what permaculture entails.

We are impassioned permaculture gardeners, exploring the art of wholesome and deliberate living. Our center is a consciously designed model for eco-living, using solar energy to supply our power needs, gravity fed pristine mountain water, and abundant organic food from our orchards and gardens. We are musicians who love ethnic and sacred music forms, and artisans who love to merge art with function and to reveal the depth of beauty intrinsic to natural materials. Our offerings at Cancion del Corazón Eternaculture Centre focus on retreats and seminars that inspire the evolution of human consciousness both individually and collectively.
