As soon as we arrived at La Mouline, we knew this place was special. Pierre and his wife welcomed us as if we were part of their own family, and even our dogs became best friends! They showed us the well-appointed, clean and comfortable gite behind their beautiful old house, and they immediately made us feel at home. The place is bursting with history, character and warmth. With two double bedrooms, there is plenty of space for two couples or a family of four. Throughout our week-long stay, Pierre (who speaks excellent English) continued to go out of his way to make sure we were very well looked after, while giving us all the privacy and independence we wanted. Every request, however small, was met with a smile – Pierre's generous hospitality made our stay in the Lot valley really unforgettable.
The gite is in a great location for exploring the Lot valley and Cahors. There are a number of picturesque villages within a short drive featuring local produce markets, bakeries, and plenty of places to eat (although we mostly preferred to cook dinner in the gite). We enjoyed visiting one of the many small, family-owned wineries within a short distance from the house. We spent a lot of time relaxing by the beautiful, clean swimming pool, and our dog loved swimming in the stream which passes by the property, as well as in the Lot river.
This was easily the best airbnb experience I've had, and one of the most memorable and special places I've stayed in all my travels. I could not recommend the place any more highly.
