We had a great time in Amsterdam staying at Jan's place. The early check in was much appreciated given we arrived early after a 24 hour flight, and Hedwig was lovely. The bedroom and living room were excellent, with lots of big windows. The neighbourhood is beautiful with nice cafes etc and is close to the park and major museums. We loved it here. The number 2 tram stops just outside and takes you to the city and the major attractions in just a few minutes. There aren't many bars or tourists, and no canals. Those wanting more action might prefer Jordaan or something. We loved the area though. Coming 'home' to this area every night gave us a nice pieceful feeling. We enjoyed early morning/late night walks around the park and small streets.

Hedwig and Jan's apartment is perfect. Firstly it is excellently situated: less than two minutes and you are in a beautiful park, below the apartment are several restaurants (but don't worry as you won't be disturbed - the neighbourhood is very tranquil) and literally right outside the door is a tram stop. But if you like to walk then it will take 10-15 minutes to get to the canals where you can start exploring the wonder of the town centre. I highly recommend visiting Amsterdam; it's an amazing city, Hedwig is an incredibly warm and generous host and her apartment is great!

I really enjoyed my stay here. Communication and checking in and out were really easy and convenient. There is a tram stop right outside the door that goes straight to downtown and the museums. Vondelpark is a short walk from the place as well. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Amsterdam.

Jan and Hedwig were great Airbnb hosts! Their place was very clean and cozy, and it was the first Airbnb in Europe that had washcloths to use! Just as described in previous reviews, there were cold beverages (two beers, milk, and grape juice) and some goodies in the apartment (stroopwafels, chocolate, corn snacks). At night during the summer (early June) it was cool enough to keep the windows closed at night (because of noise from the tram and cars outside the apartment) and sleep with a light sheet or blanket. The tram stop was a couple steps from the apartment and it was very close to all the main attractions, parks, and museums! Also the wifi was strong and good for both iPhones and computers. Additionally, Hedwig is a great hostess and does most of the communicating. During our stay, she made sure we were comfortable and answered all my questions with great speed. She even let my sister and I keep our luggage in the Airbnb for an extra day because we had a late flight. We actually ran into Hedwig on the way out of the apartment and got to say hello. She insisted on helping my sister carry her heavy luggage down the stairs to the bottom floor. I would definitely recommend this Airbnb to anybody visiting Amsterdam. All the little touches make it feel like home. :)

Jan and Hedwig have created a warm, welcome space that greatly exceeded our expectations. Hedwig greeted us upon arrival and our only regret is that we were not able to spend more time with her. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable, well-located apartment for your visit, you will not be disappointed.
