Welcome to Little Sansook B&B!

Ulverston's first, and only, vegan bed and breakfast.

We are a green, vegan, dog-loving, household in the heart of the historic market town of Ulverston. Our home is one minute from the starting point of the Cumbria Way walk and a stone's throw away from many other beautiful walks, including the Hoad Hill, which boasts panoramic views of Morecombe Bay.

Guests will be given a parking permit which gives them free access to spaces around our house.

The space
Guests have the entire top floor of the property to themselves. The Guest Floor is very spacious and comprises of a cosy double bedroom, with a delightful en suite shower room, and toilet. Our guests will also have their very own private-lounge with a comfortable sofa, widescreen TV with freeview, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, and some reading material.

Basically, everything you could ever need for a perfect stay!

We are happy to welcome guests with children only if we are able to accommodate them in the guest space. For example, if you have a baby, and a travel cot, that is absolutely fine.

** Please note, we are no longer pet friendly due to the adoption of our Greyhound Glen, we would like to give him some time to settle in before having other dogs in the home.

The kitchen at Little Sansook is open for guests to enjoy their breakfast but, because we often work in our kitchen, it is off limits outside of breakfast hours. There is a mini-fridge in the guest living room which is suitable for storing some small snacks.

Although, the house is painted blue, we are very much green in our values. We are conscious about our purchases, actively avoid single use plastic and promote the use of eco-friendly products. We are working towards being a zero-waste household but are by no means perfect. We compost, re-use, recycle, and have recently started making eco-bricks out of non-recyclable plastic. We support local fruit and vegetable stalls and purchase many products from our local refill shop - including most of the breakfast ingredients.

Where you’ll be

Cumbria, England, United Kingdom

Ulverston is a special place and I am sure our guests will feel that as soon as they arrive.

There are fantastic walking and cycling routes in the area for the more active individual. But if you prefer to spend your time in quaint little tea shops, and traditional pubs, this is also the place for you! Ulverston truly is the best of Britain!

Ulverston is also the birth place of comedy legend Stan Laurel so you can spend a day at the Laurel and Hardy Museum followed by food and drink at the Stan Laurel Inn.

For guests who are interested in Buddhism and meditation, we are a short distance from Manjushri Kadampa Monastery. They offer daily meditation sessions and regular courses on all aspects of Buddhism and meditation. We are more than happy to maintain a quiet environment in the presence of guests who are here for meditation retreats and we can offer a very comfortable environment for the duration of your stay.

If you are seeking a more high-tempo stay, there is a 5km Park Run, every Saturday at 9am. It is 100% free of charge and ran by local volunteers for the community.

There is something for everyone here!

At Little Sansook, you'll be hosted by Dan and Kelsey, who are a youngish couple from the UK. We have been away for the last 4 years teaching English and travelling around Asia. The word Sansook actually means '1000 happinesses' in the Thai language. Along with that, we have taken other inspiration from our travels and we believe this is what makes us great hosts! It might sound cheesy, but, the two quotes that sum us up are... 'Be the change you want to see in the world' and 'Nothing ventured, nothing gained'. We look forward to meeting you guys soon!

During your stay

What we offer, at Little Sansook, is a personalised stay. We only have one room available so, if you choose to stay with us, you will be our only guests. Therefore, we will be available if you need us and happy to socialise if you want to. On the other hand, you will have your own space, on the guest floor, which will be respected if you wish to relax undisturbed.

A complimentary, vegan, continental breakfast will be served every morning, between 8-9.30am, in the kitchen and we will be more than happy to have a chat over a cup of tea and give our guests any advice they may need about their stay in Ulverston. Breakfast usually includes homemade bread, homemade jam, homemade peanut butter, homemade muesli, plant based milk, vegan butter, loose leaf tea, ground coffee and fresh fruit.
