Other things to note
PLACES TO VISIT IN VARADERO
The most convenient way to visit all the different areas and sites in Varadero is the 2 story hop-on-hop-off buses that that tour Varadero during the day. The ticket for the bus is 5$ CUC and is valid for the whole day. You can get on and off the bus as many times as you wish.
Varadero beach:
It’s considered by many as the number one attraction and main reason to visit Varadero, and for a good reason, this white sandy beach is rated as one of the best in the world! The calm turquoise waters also makes this popular beach the perfect place for swimming and do all-kinds of water sports. The 21-km (13 mi) strip of nearly uninterrupted beach is also great for taking long walks or simply relax under the sun.
Casa Al Capone:
Avenida Kawama, Varadero
This beautiful beachfront house dating from the 1920’s is now one of Varadero’s well known restaurants. Legend says that well-known gangster Al Capone was the owner of this beach-house in the late 20’s. The Chicago mobster favoured Cuba with his repeated presence during the Prohibition-era.
This stunning stone and wood house, is worth a visit for its large selection of meals and wines and good service. The specialty of the restaurant is seafood and paellas. You can also just go for a drink and enjoy its unique ambiance and fantastic views, or just make a photo-stop.
Museo De Varadero:
Calle 57 corner of Avenida Playa, Varadero
The Municipal Museum is located in downtown Varadero. It displays archaeological artefacts of aboriginal people of the region and also antique furniture, documents, maps, photographs, and objects related to the short history of the town.
The house dates back to 1921, the beautiful architecture of this 2-storey wooden building is reason enough for a visit. It was one of the first frame houses built on the Hicacos Peninsula. The design, with its elegant wrap-around porches, is typical of beach houses from that period.
Centro Comercial Hicacos:
Avenida 1 corner of calle 44
Shoping mall where you can find some restaurants, stores and a currency exchange office.
Parque Retiro Josone:
Avenida 1 between Calle 56 & 58, Varadero
Josone Park is one of the most popular attractions in Varadero. This nine hectares park, located in the center of Varadero, was established in 1940. In this serene tropical oasis you’ll find a lush tropical vegetation, many colourful birds, a nice artificial lake with pedal boats. You’ll find also on-site a few bars and 4 restaurants: El Retiro (International cuisine), Dante (Italian cuisine), La Campagna (Creole cuisine), and Gruta del Vino (wine bar and Seafood restaurant).
Many Cuban girls dressed in glamour dresses come to Parque Josone for a photo shoot when celebrating their 15th birthday (quinceanera), and also couples for their wedding pictures. It's also the perfect location for business dinners, receptions and banquets.
Centro Todo En Uno:
Autopista Sur corner of Calle 54, Varadero
The “Centro Todo En Uno” is an amusement park with a little shopping mall. You can find there an internet café, a restaurant, a pizzeria, a bowling alley, a few snack bars, a stage, a kids playground, arcade games, pool tables, shops, and several rides such as: bumper cars, roller coaster, baseball batting practice, merry-go-round, etc.
This popular recreation complex (parque de diversiones) is frequented mostly by Cubans so it’s a good place to meet the locals and experience some fun time “Cuban style”!
The place is quiet on weekdays, we suggest to go during the weekend for a more authentic and exciting Cuban experience.
Xanadu Mansion:
Carretera de Las Americas Km 8.5, Varadero
This historical (1930) hacienda-style mansion was designed by architects Covarrocas and Govantes in July 1927. The first owner of this exclusive estate was the French American millionaire Irenée Dupont de Nemours. It is now a hotel/restaurant and the club house for the Varadero Golf Club.
In the Xanadu Mansion you can find a high end restaurant, 6 luxury rooms, a wine cellar and the Bar Mirador Casa Blanca (with panoramic views)

A shopping mall located directly on the beach. So you can spend time at the beach and go inside the mall to eat, drink and shop!
Marina Melia: (Plaza Las Morlas)
Autopista del Sur y Final, Punta Hicacos, Varadero
In the far north of the Hicacos peninsula, home of the most famous beach in Cuba, the tourist village of Plaza Las Morlas has various leisure and entertainment facilities along the promenade. This new Varadero resort features gastronomic, entertainment, well-being and water sports options along with a great resort combining beach and marina. Varadero by night
These are some of the interesting things to do in Varadero at night.
Calle 62:
In a lot of ways, Calle 62 bridges gaps. First of all, its location connects what many consider to be the “new” and the “old” sections of Veradero. Second, it’s one of the rare spots that truly attract significant numbers of tourists and Cuban locals alike. After sunset, Live music here is the norm, not the exception, and much of the best in local Cuban dance music can be found here nearly every night. As the evening goes on the crowds gather—and before you know it, the party has grown into the street, fully shutting it down to vehicular traffic.
Beatles:
The Beatles bar/restaurant has become one of Varadero’s most popular nighttime haunts, especially among young people who particularly enjoy the live performances of some of the island's best rock bands!
Casa De La Musica & Havana Club:
La Casa de la Musica and Havana Club are the 2 most famous and known clubs in Varadero. If you want to dance the night away, these are the places to be!

Hola… We are Cuba Homes, a group that was created in order to help and make it possible for as many people from around the world to visit and get to know Cuba with it’s people, it’s culture, and of course it’s beautiful nature. From the most beautiful beaches in the world to it’s amazing landscape of mountains and valleys, Cuba is a beautiful and amazing place to visit. And what better way to learn about the Cuban people and their culture than to be able to be a guest in a Cuban home while visiting the biggest island of the Caribbean. We think it’s the best way for tourists to experience the amazing Cuban hospitality and to immerse themselves in the local life, to get to know the daily routine of these great people, their accomplishments and the challenges they face… Their favourite local restaurants and clubs… The beach they go to… The coffee or the rum they drink and the cigars they smoke… The spots where they hang out… And many more aspects of the Cuban life… For this reason, we’re listing some of the houses that host tourists in different parts of Cuba. Some of them are whole apartments or houses, and some others are private rooms in a Cuban home. Some of them are more luxurious and are up to western standards, and some of them are more humble and reflect more of the Cuban lifestyle. Some of them are right on the beach, some of them are in the heart of the city, and some of them are in small fishing villages on the Caribbean sea. Of course, all of them are carefully selected to make sure that the visitors get the best experience possible according to their taste! We invite you to look at our listings and to choose the home that suits you best to stay in during your vacation in Cuba… You can even combine a few places to be able to stay in different cities or areas! Gracias y hasta luego!!
