The space

This cottage is surrounded by fruit trees and flowers. It has a large deck suitable for meals and drinks outside in order to enjoy the splendid climate of Algarve. The beach is one of the finest in Europe - a great expanse of sand with no buildings on it - so rare in this part of the world. It is accessed by a ride of about 2 minutes in a small boat at a nominal cost. The boat leaves from the village of Cabanas which is about a 15 minute walk from the cottage. There is a fine supermarket about a 6 minute walk from the cottage. The lovely city of Tavira is about a ten minute drive. With a car you can take day excursions to all points of the Algarve as well as adjacent Andalusia. Seville is only a 2 hour drive. We have a villa and cottage by the beach of Guincho in Cascais. A 'package' rental can be organized so that travellers can experience the Lisbon-Sintra area as well as Algarve. An attractive and reduced global rate can be organized.

Jack was very accomidating and even though we had to reschedule to a later flight, he was understanding and we were able to pick up the keys. The Cottage is amazing and the porch is a wonderful way to chill out before bed time. You will be surounded by fruit trees but sadly they were not ripe when we were there. The cottage is close to the cabanas city center, and Tavira is not far away, highly recommend visiting the island.

The villa was really pretty, well equipped, comfy and full of character, with a quiet garden with plenty of shade and spots for sunbathing. The location was ideal, especially as we can't drive. The villa was a 5 minute walk from Conceicao train station, which we reached easily from Faro. We explored the area by bike, using the Ecovia cycle network to visit Tavira, Cacela Vehla, Azinhal, Vila Real de Santo Antonio and many beautiful spots along the way (15 euros for 3 day's hire). The beach on the Ihla de Cabanas was amazing, easily reached by regular ferries from Cabanas - a 15 minute walk from the villa. Jack was a good host, and was available to answer all our questions before travelling. All in all, we couldn't have asked for more - thanks!

Very good vibes with Jack and Rita who takes care of the house. Very good communication, and a friendly housing type 80, it feels like home even if it's a bit old. There's just a lot of ant friends and I advise you not to leave food lying. To recommended +++

Cosy little house in a great location: close to the train station, the supermarket, restaurants and the beach :-) The only drawback (but I guess this is common) is the ants... just be prepared is all. We had to keep everything in the fridge or use sealed lunchboxes (tying food up in bags didn't do any good), then we were fine with them. Jack was a great host. We didn't meet him but he kept in touch with recommendations for places to visit and eat. We followed him up on a visit to Tavira (lovely town) and dinner in the Europa restaurant in Cabanas, Yum! Cabanas town itself is okay, nothing great. Nearby Tavira has all the charm. But we liked Cabanas beach the most over Tavira and Monte Gordo beaches. It is quieter and less developed and much quicker to get to on the boat than the ride out to Tavira Island. Monte Gordo beach does not require a boat-ride, but is much more developed. Highly recommended.

This is a cute little place near Cabanas beach, easy to drive to nearby places and beaches, but in a secluded area which was very quiet and relaxing in the evenings. Our apartment had a very private terrace area where we had breakfast each morning, and the place is surrounded by trees. The kitchen is small but we expected that from the photos and description, but it's big enough to cook a meal in. Communication with Jack the host was great, and Rita the cleaner who opened up and gave us the keys etc. was extremely welcoming and friendly. We had a great stay in Cabanas de Tavira!

The host was very professional and kind, but was in Lisbon and had the maid (Rita) a very nice lady come to open the door and give us the keys . Neighborhood was quiet and close to the lagoon where you take the ferry to the beach. The place needs a bit more attention and more ventilation (no AC) and can get very hot during the evenings. Over all if one does not mind heat and little bit of inconvenience it's a nice place to stay.
