Good stay in a quiet location. The house had a funky layout ( like a porch with no view). But other then that everything was cool. Good value :)

I never met Julien, but I'm not surprised as this was a booking for Villa Surya Abadi and they have I think five different locations? I wish we'd booked their pickup, as our taxi from the airport had some trouble finding the place. If you are looking for seclusion and beauty, this is the place to be. The pool is lovely, it's easy to order food (or there is local food nearby), and there is a minimart up the street. It's definitely isolated. You need a motorbike to get to the beach from where I stayed (maybe a 20 minute drive), but they can organize that for you. Be aware that the minimart does not have an ATM, so unless you are able to get out you need to have enough INR with you before you arrive. The staff speaks limited English, but that is typical of Asia. They were very kind and accomodating. If it's possible to have beds that are too soft, they've managed to acheive it here. The terrace offers a view of some incredibly beautiful sunsets.

This is such a beautiful place, but the location is really out of the way and our taxi driver had a really hard time finding it. Based on the map provided, I thought the location would be near to the airport but it was actually a long drive through really bad traffic (it took at least an hour and a half to go about 11 miles). I only stayed one night- got there late and left pretty early- which I think is probably the wrong way to go about it with this spot. I imagine it would be really relaxing to stay here for a week or so and just really soak up the quiet and the beauty of the surroundings. When we arrived at 9:30 pm we almost couldn't get food anywhere because the cafe (which is located at a different one of their villas-we had to rent a motorbike to get there and back) at first refused to serve us even though they weren't supposed to close until 10pm. My husband had to really sweet talk them before they begrudgingly gave us some half-heated french fries. All this being said, staying here was not a great experience for us but I think if you have the right expectations you could really love it - it's a great value and a beautiful place.

Absolutely lovely area and in a more quiet part of Bali that I prefer. Everything was in order and i'm not sure you can get better value in Bali for what it's worth! However do recommend bringing earplugs if you're in a ground floor room as the floors above are made of wood and sound travels through them like water through a net.

The villa was as advertised and good value for money. Our room was large, the mattress on the bed was firm and the air conditioning was effective. The pool was nice too. The one negative was that the bathroom sink leaked. Food could be ordered from another property under the same management, and was delivered quite quickly, but was average and a bit overpriced; a better option was to wander around the vicinity in the evening, sampling street food from small nearby warungs and kaki limas (like babi guling, beef rendang and sate). There are several supermarkets in the vicinity as well.

Julien wasn't home when I went to the hotel. His employees made sure to help me find it though, it really went without problems. Be aware that this is a hotel, and not a private accommodation :-)
