We've never met Renée but we felt perfectly hosted. She is very responsive, friendly and the mails and welcome letter let no questions unanswered. The apartment was very nice, very clean in almost perfect condition. Everything worked like a charm and we haven't missed anything. But more important: we could easily felt like home because of the interior, the flair and the nice view of the apartment. The place is just perfect. The building is quite luxury and the security on the entry is very nice, friendly and we had very nice chats. You can easily reach everything you want by feet or by bus. It's just around the corner. Perfect for us as a first timer in cape town. We never even missed a car (we've forgotten to rent one). All in all a perfect holiday and a very perfect stay. we would really love to come again to Cape Town - and maybe again in this lovely apartment. Thanks, Ingo and Kristin

Communication with Renée was excellent; she answered all messages very promptly and provided comprehensive information. However we never met Renée as check-in and check-out were both self-service. Pity as we missed those insider tips one gets from AIRBNB hosts. The apartment building is new and well maintained with secure parking and 24 manned security but it is slightly isolated from the busier areas of the neighbourhood. For that reason you can't confidently or safely walk at night from the building - security advice strongly against it. The interior of the studio was clean and well presented but it is smaller than the photography suggests. It's an open plan studio, not a one bed apartment. The bed is immediately by the front door, separated from the living dining kitchen area by a double wardrobe - otherwise completely open. The furnishings are sparse but stylish. The bed linens are good. The bed was very comfortable. The internet was fast (especially by Cape Town standards) but with 500mb limit per day so fine for normal use but can't download a movie etc. The apartment doesn't in our opinion reflect the essence of AIRBNB where home owners share or offer their properties as a home-from-home for visitors. It's an investment property that is rented out. The welcome pack was poor. There is no air-con or integrated heating. There was one plug in heater that took the chill off the loft style space. No dishwasher but otherwise well-equipped kitchen.

Response from Renée:
Being a host for several apartments, I am very grateful to the many guests who have stayed in and enjoyed our accommodations. Their positive experiences and reviews are very much appreciated. We strive to provide services and facilities exactly as advertised and as such, Andy’s comments are unjustified. Andy only stayed in the apartment for one night. I was able to accommodate Andy’s early Sunday check-in request, however, as I have two small children, I was unable to go and meet Andy personally as Sundays are our family days. All our apartments have a self-service check-in and check-out facility in order to accommodate our guests’ varied arrival and departure times. To facilitate this process, our guests are provided with all necessary check-in information beforehand. I don’t advertise the apartment as a shared space, but as a comfortable, spacious one bedroom apartment (64m2) that is tastefully furnished, providing all amenities and without being cluttered. From our many positive reviews, our guests appreciate this. As the bedroom cannot be seen from the lounge/dining area and so is not strictly open plan, we don’t consider this to be a studio apartment. We don’t claim to have a dishwasher, air-conditioning or central heating in this apartment, so this comment is unfounded. The advertised photographs are not trick ones – we’ve taken them ourselves, with normal lenses (no wide angle-lenses). In fact, several reviews have commented on the fact that our photos don’t do the apartments justice. For our short stay guests, we provide complimentary toiletries, snacks and tea/coffee. As a token of appreciation, a more elaborate welcome pack is provided for our guests who have extended stays. The apartment block is exactly one block away from one of the buzziest parts of town and I think it’s inaccurate to say that it’s not in the hub of things. We provide a detailed information brochure that I compiled myself. Had Andy read our brochure, he would have noted my suggestions of restaurants, shops, things to do and places to see and that we do not suggest that our guests walk after dark anywhere in the city – not just around our apartment block! We list a number of taxi services in the vicinity. As regards the internet limit, we’re happy to say that we are in the process of upgrading to fibre internet, which will allow uncapped superfast internet to guests as soon as it’s installed (hopefully in the next two weeks). As I am confident that all our apartments and facilities proudly on offer will be enjoyed and appreciated by our many guests, I can console myself with our other 29 excellent reviews and try and get over this unfairly harsh review.
