Penn is really friendly and accommodating. We weren't sure when we would arrive, but he was flexible and easily reachable by phone. The house is full of old memorabilia that is great to look at. Talking with Penn is fascinating as he knows so much about the Cape and its history. He also had great recommendations on where to eat and what to see. His cat Shell is very friendly.

Great old house. Growing up in the area I realize dust and spiders are part of the mix, I prefer them in their corners though. Its a homey feel if that's what you want. I wish Penn luck and hope he hears the importance of cleanliness.

Penn was a great host and we enjoyed our stay in Orleans. Penn's house is really interesting and filled with stories from his history. It was a great location, comfortable and nice and quiet. If you are looking for a more upscale place then it wouldn't be a good fit, but what the house lacks in luxury, it makes up for in character.

Sorry; just vac & cleaned all the upstairs, found only 2 little spi. in the hall... No others anywhere... Not bad for a 200yr. old house... (thanx for the heads up...)

We had a wonderful stay at Penn's atmospheric, rustic 1840s home. The house is filled with family memories and well-loved objects. The home is always open (at least in summer) with the breeze cooling the upper-most floor in the evening. Most rooms lack locks. The shared bath had extra shampoo, soap, and towels. Penn is wonderful. He greeted us kindly, and he had lovely stories to share. He was also extremely gracious and generous to my seven year old son.

My host was friendly and casual. The lodging was comfortable. The neighborhood was tops: classic Cape.
