Neighbourhood highlights

The Cottage is set in the backwaters of Upper Soudley, a quiet village in the heart of the Royal Forest of Dean. The village is surrounded by woodland and five minutes walk in any direction will take you into the forest. Soudley ponds, nearby, are very scenic with beautiful forest walks and an abundance of wildlife.

The Dean Heritage Centre is located opposite the ponds and is well worth a visit. The rich history of The Royal Forest of Dean is recounted in various displays both indoors and outside, step back in time by visiting the Forest Miners Cottage. The Heritage Centre also has craft shop, nature trail and a cafe.

A scenic drive to the Wenchford Picnic Site is a must. On the way you drive through woodland rich in beauty and colour and pass by the remains of an old Roman Road. The picnic site is set in beautiful Oak Woodlands with a stream meandering nearby. The site has barbecues and picnic tables.
