Our comfortable three bedroom ranch house overlooks the peaceful Mettawee Valley, just north of historic Dorset and Manchester in southern Vermont. Enjoy all the outdoors has to offer, with easy access to multiple skiing (both downhill and cross-country), hiking and mountain biking trails; or simply sit on our greystone patio and enjoy the view. Charming Dorset is a 10-minute drive; and a bit further down the road, the shops and eateries of Manchester.

The space
You'll have the entire house, fenced-in backyard and five acres of field at your disposal! We have been happy AirBnB guests for years and will try to make your stay a comfortable one, with little extras from Vermont such as soaps and local maple syrup, as well as coffee and tea for breakfast, and basic cooking needs such as oil and spices. Well-behaved pets are welcome! We ask only that they stay off living room furniture to protect those with allergies, but they're welcome on your bed :-).

The house has state-of-the-art high-speed fibernet broadband with WiFi; serving a Roku TV with Netflix, Prime Video and more. You will need to connect your phone to the WiFi for service (Important note: if you do not have the possibility of "WiFi calling" or other internet-based phone service, please be aware that cellular connection is spotty/non-existent at the house, though good 1-2 miles down the road). Should you need to work while visiting, a home office with large desk forms part of the master bedroom; smaller writing desks are also in the 2nd bedroom and living room. Comfortable pillow-top queen mattresses in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms; the master bed has high-quality foam mattresses that can be set up as either a twin or double (king-size) bed, but the foam may be too hard for some guests.

Please be aware that this is my private home that I place on AirBnB while traveling on mission overseas; it is not a typical "vacation house!" We are on well water that is rather hard (you'll notice some rust stains in toilets or baths, but be assured everything is well-cleaned :-)).

Covid-19 Note: Vermont now requires two weeks of self-quarantine (or 1 week with a negative Covid test after 7 days) for visitors to the state from counties above 400/million. Please check the VT Department of Health website for the most updated information and county maps. I do have a liberal cancellation policy, so if the situation in your county changes and you need to cancel, you will not be charged; but please do take these requirements seriously. My neighbors in Vermont will thank you!

Guest access

With several downhill (Bromley, Stratton, Pico, Killington) and Nordic (Wild Wings, Viking, Stratton, Prospect) ski areas within 45 minutes-hour, great for a winter getaway -- conditions permitting, you can also cross-country ski or snowshoe right out the door.

From spring to fall, enjoy hiking and mountain biking at Haystack, Merck Forest and Dorset (10 minutes), or at Equinox or Slate Valley (20 minutes). Just a bit further afield are the many trails of the Berkshires and Greens. Many mapling and berry-picking farms nearby, as well as trail riding.

In Dorset, you'll find the Dorset Store, great coffee at Dorset Rising, and Dorset Theater; with many great places to eat and boutique shopping just a few miles down the road in Manchester.

Inveterate traveler, plus I work on climate change which (ironically) means I often leave a large carbon footprint as am frequently traveling and working away from home! Love using AirBnB to have a more "local" experience and be able to cook my own meals with food purchased locally. Now looking to return the favor by sharing my home with other fellow AirBnBers as well. :-)
